Overview
The AVPro Edge AC-MXNET-CBOX-HA is the high-availability control box for the MXNet V1 AV-over-IP ecosystem. Acting as the central intelligence of an MXNet deployment, the CBOX manages all multicast routing, audio/video switching, signal metadata, and control communications across encoders and decoders on the network. It is PoE-powered, web-based, and pre-loaded with AVPro's MXNet Mentor management software—making it the single point of configuration and ongoing control for systems that may include hundreds of endpoints.
Description
The AC-MXNET-CBOX-HA connects to any multicast-capable managed network switch and immediately begins discovering MXNet encoders and decoders on the network. Once endpoints are detected, the CBOX database tracks every device, enabling full matrix switching, video wall configuration, RS-232/USB/IR routing, KVM operation, and EDID management from a single interface. The high-availability designation means the system is engineered for reliability in mission-critical deployments where downtime is not acceptable.
MXNet Mentor—the HTML5-based control and setup application pre-installed on the CBOX—provides live diagnostics, custom device naming, auto-matrix switching, unlimited video wall creation with asymmetrical array support, CEC control, and RS-232/IR direct routing for third-party control processors. Integrators familiar with AV/IP deployments will find Mentor substantially reduces commissioning time compared to systems requiring manual configuration of each endpoint.

FAQ
- Does the AC-MXNET-CBOX-HA require a dedicated server or PC to run?
- No. MXNet Mentor is pre-installed directly on the CBOX hardware and runs in any modern web browser on the local network. No separate server or installed software is required.
- What switches are compatible with the MXNet CBOX?
- Any managed switch with multicast support (IGMP snooping) is compatible. AVPro Edge has validated interoperability with Netgear switches, which include an "AVPro Edge Profile" for simplified setup.
- How many encoders and decoders can one CBOX manage?
- The CBOX database is designed to handle hundreds of MXNet endpoints. The practical limit depends on network infrastructure rather than CBOX processing capacity in most real-world deployments.
- What is the difference between the standard CBOX and the CBOX-HA?
- The -HA designation indicates high-availability engineering, making it appropriate for installations where system continuity is a priority, such as enterprise, government, and mission-critical commercial deployments.
- Can the CBOX integrate with third-party control systems?
- Yes. The CBOX exposes a system API that supports integration with Crestron, Control4, AMX, and other third-party control processors via RS-232 and network-based control commands.
