Product Overview

The AVPro Edge AC-MXNET-1G-D is the receiving endpoint in the MXNet 1G AV-over-IP ecosystem, designed to decode IP-encapsulated audio and video streams back into standard HDMI output for connection to any display. Operating within a 1G network infrastructure, this decoder uses JPEG 2000 compression to deliver visually lossless 4K 4:4:4 60Hz video with near-zero latency across a multicast-capable managed L3 network. It pairs directly with the AC-MXNET-1G-E encoder and is designed to scale from simple point-to-point links to large, multi-source matrix distributions managed through the MXNet MENTOR software platform. The AC-MXNET-1G-D is a proven solution for commercial integrators who need reliable, scalable AV distribution without the limitations of traditional matrix switchers.

Product Description

At the core of the MXNet distribution architecture, the AC-MXNET-1G-D Decoder receives multicast IP streams from any AC-MXNET-1G-E encoder via a standard CAT 5e or better Ethernet cable, or optionally via SFP fiber for extended runs. Once installed and configured through the MXNet MENTOR control software, each decoder becomes a fully addressable AV endpoint that can receive any source in the system with a simple routing command. The device natively supports HDMI 2.0 at up to 18Gbps bandwidth, HDCP 2.3, bi-directional RS-232 and IR control, and USB/KVM passback — making it suitable for both display-only and interactive workstation deployments. A built-in OLED Data Window displays the unit's IP address, MAC address, or a custom label, streamlining installation and post-commissioning troubleshooting. All indicator LEDs and the OLED display can be fully disabled for discreet installs in client-facing environments where visible electronics would be unacceptable. The unit also supports encapsulated RS-232 over IP for serial device control at the display endpoint, reducing the need for additional control hardware at each screen location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the AC-MXNET-1G-D work without a dedicated MXNet switch?
Yes. The decoder is compatible with any multicast-capable managed L3 network switch, not just the AC-MXNET-SW48. It can also operate in a direct point-to-point connection with an AC-MXNET-1G-E encoder without any switch at all.
What is the maximum supported resolution?
The AC-MXNET-1G-D supports full 4K UHD at 60Hz with 4:4:4 chroma sampling over the 1G network, using JPEG 2000 visually lossless compression.
Can I control the display connected to the decoder using RS-232 or IR?
Yes. Both RS-232 and IR control signals can be routed directly to the decoder endpoint, allowing the control system to communicate with the connected display through the MXNet network without separate control cabling.
Is it possible to build a video wall with multiple AC-MXNET-1G-D decoders?
Yes. MXNet supports video wall configurations with gen-locked JPEG 2000 streams, which eliminates tearing across display boundaries. Video wall layout and routing are managed through the MXNet MENTOR software.
Can indicator lights be disabled for a clean install?
Yes. All LEDs and the OLED Data Window can be fully turned off through MXNet MENTOR, making this unit suitable for discreet installations in client-facing spaces.
