Product Overview
The AVPro Edge AC-MX-44 is an 18Gbps 4x4 HDMI matrix switch built for professional AV integrators who need reliable 4K60 4:4:4 routing with flexible audio management. It routes any of four HDMI 2.0 sources to any combination of four HDMI outputs while supporting full HDR, HDCP 2.3, and dual analog audio de-embedding with optical Toslink outputs. Per-output built-in scalers and comprehensive EDID management make the AC-MX-44 a practical choice for commercial 4K HDMI matrix distribution in systems with mixed display types. Audio delay, HDBaseT compatibility mode, and a built-in test pattern generator give integrators the diagnostic and calibration tools needed to commission installations cleanly.
Product Description
The AC-MX-44 supports 18Gbps bandwidth on every port, delivering 4K60 4:4:4, HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, and HDR10+ simultaneously across all four outputs. Dual audio de-embedding provides both balanced analog (2-channel PCM) and digital optical Toslink (up to 7.1 LPCM, Dolby Digital, DTS Master Audio) outputs per output zone, with three routing modes: bind to output, bind to input, or independent matrix. Per-output scalers downscale 4K to 1080p and 4:4:4 to 4:2:0 on individual outputs without affecting the rest of the system. Audio delay is configurable up to 630ms from the front panel, directly addressing lip-sync without external processing. The built-in AVPro Edge web-based UI allows EDID creation, signal health diagnostics, and simplified switching control — with a limited-access user mode for client self-service switching at bars and restaurants. HDBaseT compatibility mode converts outputs per-port for hybrid systems mixing HDMI and HDBaseT runs.

Key Features
- 18Gbps Bandwidth — full 4K60 4:4:4 and HDR (HDR10, 12-bit, Dolby Vision, HLG, HDR10+) on all four outputs simultaneously.
- HDMI 2.0(a/b) with HDCP 2.3 — supports all prior HDCP versions for broad source and display compatibility.
- Dual Audio De-embedding — balanced analog (2CH PCM) and digital optical Toslink (7.1 LPCM, Dolby Digital, DTS) outputs per zone with three independent routing modes.
- Per-Output Scalers — downscale 4K to 1080p or 4:4:4 to 4:2:0 per output without degrading other outputs.
- Audio Delay — up to 630ms per output from the front panel, resolving lip-sync on projectors and large-screen displays.
- HDBaseT Compatibility Mode — converts 18Gbps to 9Gbps per output for direct feed to HDBaseT transmitters or extenders.
- Advanced EDID Management — 29 onboard EDID profiles including HDR EDIDs; one-button copy from any connected display to any input.
- Built-In Test Pattern Generator — verify infrastructure on each output before leaving a job site.
- AVPro Edge Web UI — browser-based setup, diagnostics, EDID management, and limited-access client switching mode.
- Multi-Platform Control Drivers — certified drivers for Crestron, Control4, RTI, and ELAN; also supports IR, RS-232, and LAN.
Typical Applications
- Corporate AV distribution in conference centers with mixed 4K and 1080p displays
- Hospitality and hotel in-room and public area video distribution
- Sports bars and restaurants needing client-controllable source switching per zone
- Luxury residential multi-room home theater systems with independent audio zones
- Hybrid HDBaseT/HDMI installations using HDBaseT compatibility mode per output

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the AC-MX-44 and the 18Gbps 4x4 Matrix with Dual Audio De-embedding (AC-MX-44-AUHD)?
- Both products share the same core 18Gbps 4x4 matrix engine with dual audio de-embedding, built-in scalers, and audio delay. Verify the specific model numbers with your distributor or contact Creation Networks to confirm which variant is stocked and whether any firmware or feature differences apply.
- Can the AC-MX-44 handle Dolby Vision sources?
- Yes. The matrix passes Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and HDR10+ content transparently to displays that support those formats. Per-output EDID management lets you configure what HDR capabilities each display advertises to sources.
- How does the independent audio matrix mode work?
- In independent mode, the extracted audio outputs are decoupled from the video routing and can be controlled as a separate audio matrix using RS-232 or LAN commands. This lets you route audio from input 1 to audio output 3 while video from input 1 goes to output 2, for example.
- Do I need external signal converters to mix HDMI and HDBaseT extenders on the same system?
- No. HDBaseT compatibility mode converts the signal on a per-output basis from 18Gbps to 9Gbps, making it compatible with standard HDBaseT transmitters. Outputs feeding direct HDMI displays remain at full 18Gbps.
- Is the web UI accessible without a control system?
- Yes. The browser-based UI is accessible over LAN from any computer on the same network. A limited-access client mode can be configured so end users switch sources without exposing the full setup, EDID, or diagnostic tools.
