Product Overview
The RF Venue RF Spotlight (RFS) is a low-profile floor-pad UHF antenna designed for wireless microphone performance improvement in crowded RF environments. Placed at stage level near performers, the RF Spotlight maximizes signal-to-noise ratio by positioning the receive antenna as close as possible to the wireless microphone transmitter — reducing the path length between antenna and transmitter and improving performance in environments where distant rack-mounted antennas struggle. Under crowded RF conditions with 10 mW transmitter power, the RF Spotlight provides a coverage radius of 50–60 feet.
Product Description
The RF Spotlight solves a specific challenge in wireless microphone deployments: venues where the RF environment is too congested for traditional directional antennas mounted at the back of the room or on stage wings to provide reliable coverage. Trade shows, hotel ballrooms with multiple adjacent breakout rooms, convention centers, and churches with high local RF noise floors all benefit from the RF Spotlight's proximity approach. By placing the antenna directly on stage — at floor level near the performers — the RF path from transmitter to antenna is minimized, improving the signal-to-noise ratio even when the overall RF environment is noisy.
The RF Spotlight includes a 10-foot BNC lead cable pre-attached, allowing it to be positioned independently of the coaxial run length. It connects to all RF Venue antenna distribution systems (DISTRO4, DISTRO5 HDR, DISTRO9 HDR) and multi-zone antenna combiners (4ZONE, 4ZONE-NETWORK), as well as RF Venue Band Pass Filters. Multiple RF Spotlight units can be deployed in a distributed antenna system (DAS) configuration to cover a large area with closely-spaced antennas at low heights — a practical approach for convention center floors, hotel event spaces, and large meeting rooms where high mounting positions are unavailable or impractical.
The RF Spotlight operates across the UHF wireless microphone frequency range and is compatible with all major wireless microphone brands. Its low-profile floor-pad form factor is unobtrusive on stage and suitable for use with a wide variety of stage layouts and event formats.
Key Features
- Stage-Level Proximity Antenna — Placed near performers to minimize the transmitter-to-antenna path, improving signal-to-noise ratio in crowded RF environments.
- 50–60 Foot Coverage Radius — Under crowded RF conditions at 10 mW transmitter power; effective range determined by local noise floor and transmitter power.
- 10' BNC Lead Cable — Pre-attached BNC cable for flexible positioning independent of the main coaxial run.
- DAS-Friendly — Multiple units can be deployed in a distributed antenna system configuration across large floor areas.
- Compatible with RF Venue Distribution Systems — Works with DISTRO4, DISTRO5 HDR, DISTRO9 HDR, 4ZONE, and 4ZONE-NETWORK.
- Band Pass Filter Compatible — Can be used in combination with RF Venue Band Pass Filters for additional interference rejection.
- Low-Profile Form Factor — Floor-pad design is unobtrusive on stage and suitable for a wide range of event layouts.
- Universal Compatibility — Works with all major UHF wireless microphone brands and receivers.
Typical Applications

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I use the RF Spotlight instead of a directional antenna like the DFIN or D-ARC?
Use the RF Spotlight when the RF environment is too congested for distant antennas to provide reliable coverage — particularly in trade shows, hotel breakout rooms, convention centers, or any venue with high RF noise. The RF Spotlight's proximity approach outperforms distant directional antennas when signal-to-noise ratio is limited by RF congestion rather than by distance.
Can the RF Spotlight be ceiling-mounted?
The RF Spotlight is designed for floor-level placement as a proximity antenna. Ceiling mounting is possible but reduces the proximity benefit. For ceiling mounting, the Diversity Architectural Antenna (D-ARC) or Diversity Fin (DFIN) are better suited.
How many RF Spotlight units can be connected to a single DISTRO5 HDR?
Multiple RF Spotlight units can be used in a distributed antenna system (DAS) configuration. The number connected to a single distributor depends on the system design. Consult with Creation Networks for system design guidance on DAS configurations.
What is the effective range of the RF Spotlight?
At 10 mW transmitter power under crowded RF conditions, the RF Spotlight provides a coverage radius of 50–60 feet. Range increases with higher transmitter power and decreases as the RF noise floor rises. Range is maximized by placing the antenna as close to the performers as practical.
