The AUDAC MMP40 is a SourceCon™ media player and recorder module that adds USB playback and recording to compatible AUDAC devices such as the XMP44 modular audio system and MFA series mixer-amplifiers. It plays MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis and AAC files from USB memory or USB hard drives and records in MP3, Ogg Vorbis and WAV. SourceCon™ is AUDAC's modular slot technology: the module slides into guide rails, connects through board-edge contacts, and is instantly discovered by the host device without internal wiring or configuration. Compatible hosts include the XMP44 modular audio player, the MFA208 and the MFA216 mixer-amplifiers. Once installed, the MMP40 plays audio from USB storage formatted as FAT16 or FAT32, including both compressed and lossless formats. Playback supports repeat, random, single and continuous modes for background music programming. Media information such as track, artist and playback mode, including album artwork, can be retrieved and shown on the controlling device or software interface. The module also records to USB in MP3, Ogg Vorbis or WAV, which is useful for capturing announcements or events. Its panel carries a balanced stereo line output for playback and a balanced stereo line input for recording, both on 3-pin Euro terminal blocks. Measured performance is 0.07% THD+N and more than 80 dB crosstalk at 1 kHz. The MMP40 is compatible with AUDAC Touch™, so playback can be controlled from custom dashboards on phones and tablets.
