Atomos Shogun Connect 7-inch 8K Monitor Recorder Switcher

Product Overview

The Atomos Shogun Connect is a 7-inch HDR touchscreen monitor-recorder-switcher that records up to 8Kp30 and 4Kp120 from SDI and HDMI inputs, stores footage on CFexpress Type B media, and connects directly to the cloud via built-in Wi-Fi 6E, NDI HX3, and ATOMOSphere. Engineered for high-resolution camera-to-cloud workflows, live switching of up to four simultaneous SDI or HDMI sources, and on-set reference monitoring, the Shogun Connect serves as a central production hub for camera operators, DIT stations, and remote collaboration teams.

Product Description

The Atomos Shogun Connect extends the Shogun line to support 8K resolution and cloud-native production workflows in a portable 7-inch form factor. The 1000-nit HDR touchscreen with full-array local dimming renders HDR10 and HLG content accurately for on-set color decisions and live event monitoring. Apple ProRes RAW HQ is recorded to CFexpress Type B media at 8Kp30 and 4Kp120, with ProRes and Avid DNx also available as compressed recording options for lower-bandwidth editorial pipelines.

In multi-camera mode, the Shogun Connect switches between up to four SDI or HDMI sources simultaneously, recording each feed as an independent ISO channel plus a switched program output. The built-in live stream encoder supports simultaneous recording and streaming, removing the need for a separate streaming device on productions with broadcast or remote monitoring requirements. Wi-Fi 6E connectivity enables high-throughput wireless file transfer and direct cloud upload via ATOMOSphere, with Frame.io and Dropbox integration for camera-to-cloud workflows. NDI HX3 support allows the unit to distribute video-over-IP across a local network without additional hardware.

AirGlu wireless timecode uses both RF and Bluetooth to synchronize multiple cameras without cable runs, keeping multi-camera setups clean on busy sets. The monitoring toolset includes custom 3D LUT support, ARRI and Atomos false color, focus peaking, waveform, vectorscope, RGB parade, zebra, frame guides, and anamorphic de-squeeze. Balanced XLR audio input and output are routed via the optional XLR cable. Dual NP-F/L-series battery slots provide continuous hot-swap field power. 8Kp30 and 4Kp120 in Apple ProRes RAW HQ to CFexpress Type B media from compatible camera sources via SDI or HDMI.

Does the Shogun Connect support camera-to-cloud workflows?
Yes. Wi-Fi 6E connectivity enables direct upload to ATOMOSphere, Frame.io, and Dropbox during or after recording without additional hardware.

What is NDI HX3 used for on the Shogun Connect?
NDI HX3 allows the Shogun Connect to distribute its video signal over a local IP network for remote monitoring, multi-room production, or integration with NDI-compatible switchers and display systems.

How does AirGlu timecode work?
AirGlu uses dual RF and Bluetooth transmission to sync timecode wirelessly between cameras and recorders on set, eliminating BNC timecode cable runs in multi-camera setups.
