Product Overview

The Atlona AT-HDVS-200-TX is a three-input HDBaseT switcher and transmitter that combines a 3x1 multi-format switcher with long-distance HDBaseT signal extension in a single compact unit. It accepts two HDMI inputs and one VGA input with audio, and transmits video, audio, control, and Ethernet up to 330 feet (100 meters) over category cable to a compatible HDBaseT receiver or switcher. This HDBaseT switcher for HDMI and VGA sources includes automatic input selection and automatic display control, making it well-suited for classrooms, huddle rooms, and meeting spaces where simplified presenter operation is required. The HDVS-200-TX is remotely powered via PoE from the AT-OME-RX11 or other compatible Atlona devices, eliminating the need for a local power supply at the transmitter location.

Product Description

Atlona AT-HDVS-200-TX Two-Input HDBaseT Switcher for HDMI and VGA

The Atlona AT-HDVS-200-TX is a 3x1 switcher and HDBaseT transmitter with two HDMI inputs and a VGA input with audio. Video signals up to 4K/UHD at 60 Hz with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, plus embedded audio, control, and Ethernet can be transmitted up to 330 feet (100 meters) over category cable when used with the AT-OME-RX11 receiver or compatible Atlona HDBaseT-equipped switchers. A two-channel analog audio input can be assigned to any of the three video inputs and embedded into the HDBaseT signal for transmission. The HDVS-200-TX is designed primarily for use with the AT-OME-RX11 4K receiver, and also integrates with Atlona HDBaseT matrix switchers including the AT-UHD-SW-5000ED and CLSO Series. The unit provides automatic display control through TCP/IP, RS-232, or CEC, enabling a display to power on when a source is connected and power off when the source is disconnected, without a separate control system. Automatic input selection uses hot plug detect (HPD) and active video detection to reliably switch to an active source regardless of source type. Front panel controls provide manual input selection, display power on/off, and volume control. The HDVS-200-TX is remotely powered by the connected receiver over HDBaseT (IEEE 802.3af PoE), saving both installation time and cost. Surface mounting brackets are included for under-table, furniture, or wall installation. The device is manageable via Velocity Device Manager for remote configuration, monitoring, and firmware updates across a facility.

Key Features

  • 3x1 Multi-Format Switcher — Accepts two HDMI inputs and one VGA input with audio, allowing legacy VGA sources to coexist with modern HDMI devices on a single display.
  • HDBaseT Transmission to 330 ft — Transmits AV, RS-232, and Ethernet up to 330 feet (100 meters) at 1080p over CAT5e/6, or 4K/UHD using CAT6a/7 cable.
  • 4K/UHD Capability at 60 Hz — Supports video up to 4K/UHD at 60 Hz with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling when used with the AT-OME-RX11 or a compatible HDBaseT-equipped device.
  • Automatic Display Control — Controls display power via TCP/IP, RS-232, or CEC based on source connection status, eliminating the need for a dedicated control system in many applications.
  • Automatic Input Selection — Selects the active input automatically using HPD signal detection and active video detection, ensuring reliable switching for all source types including DisplayPort adapters.
  • Remotely Powered via PoE — IEEE 802.3af PoE Powered Device; power for the transmitter is supplied by the AT-OME-RX11 or other compatible Atlona device over the HDBaseT cable, eliminating the need for a local power outlet.
  • Front Panel Controls — Input selection, display power on/off, and volume control are available from the front panel without requiring external control commands.
  • HDCP 2.2 Compliance — HDCP 2.2 compliant when used with an HDCP 2.2 compliant receiver such as the AT-OME-RX11, and HDCP 1.4 compliant when used with the AT-HDVS-200-RX.
  • TCP/IP and RS-232 Control — Flexible control interface for compatibility with third-party control systems, reducing integration time and cost.
  • EDID Management — Manages EDID communication between sources and the switcher to ensure correct resolution and audio format delivery.
  • Velocity Device Manager Compatible — Supports remote configuration, management, and firmware updates across multiple units via Atlona Velocity Device Manager.
  • Surface Mounting Brackets Included — Hardware for under-table, furniture, or on-wall installation is included in the box.

Typical Applications

  • Classrooms and lecture halls requiring HDBaseT extension with automatic display control from a single transmitter unit
  • Conference rooms and meeting rooms combining HDMI laptop inputs with legacy VGA sources at a presenter table or lectern
  • Huddle rooms and small collaboration spaces using the HDVS-200-TX with the AT-OME-RX11 for a complete, cost-effective AV system with no dedicated control processor
  • Larger AV systems where HDBaseT connectivity is extended from a central rack to remote presentation locations such as podiums and conference tables
  • Applications requiring display control via CEC, RS-232, or IP without a standalone control system
  • Corporate training rooms and government briefing rooms with mixed HDMI and VGA source environments

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the AT-HDVS-200-TX require a local power supply at the transmitter location?
No. The HDVS-200-TX is a PoE Powered Device (IEEE 802.3af) and receives its power over the HDBaseT cable from the connected receiver, such as the AT-OME-RX11. No power outlet is required at the transmitter end. An optional AT-HDVS-200-TX-PSK version with an external power supply is available for use with third-party HDBaseT receivers or projectors.
Q: Can the AT-HDVS-200-TX work with receivers other than the AT-OME-RX11?
Yes. The HDVS-200-TX is compatible with the AT-OME-RX11 as its primary paired receiver, and can also be used with Atlona HDBaseT-equipped switchers including the AT-UHD-SW-5000ED and the CLSO Series. HDCP 2.2 support requires a 2.2-compliant receiver such as the AT-OME-RX11.
Q: How does automatic display control work?
The HDVS-200-TX monitors source connections and sends display power commands via TCP/IP, RS-232, or CEC when a source is connected or disconnected. When a presenter plugs in a laptop, the display powers on automatically. When the laptop is removed, the display powers off, eliminating the need for manual control or a dedicated control processor.
Q: What is the maximum 4K/UHD transmission distance over category cable?
Using CAT6a or CAT7 shielded cable, 4K/UHD transmission is supported up to 330 feet (100 meters). Using CAT5e or CAT6 unshielded cable, 4K/UHD is limited to 230 feet (70 meters). 1080p transmission is supported up to 330 feet over CAT5e/6.
Q: Can the VGA input accept a stereo audio source?
Yes. The HDVS-200-TX includes a two-channel analog audio input that can be assigned to any of the three video inputs including the VGA input. This audio is then embedded into the HDBaseT signal for transmission to the receiver.
Q: Is the HDVS-200-TX compatible with the Atlona Velocity Device Manager?
Yes. The AT-HDVS-200-TX is an IP-controllable device that can be configured, monitored, and updated remotely using Atlona Velocity Device Manager. Velocity Device Manager is available as part of Atlona Velocity control systems or as a free virtual machine software download.
Q: What control system drivers are available for the HDVS-200-TX?
Atlona provides Velocity control drivers, as well as Crestron RS-232/TCP/IP and Neets RS-232/IP control drivers. Third-party control systems with TCP/IP or RS-232 support can also control the unit using the published API.
