Product Overview

The Atlona AT-OME-RX21 is a 2x1 HDBaseT receiver and 4K/UHD scaler designed for conference rooms, boardrooms, and commercial meeting spaces where a central equipment rack must feed a remote display over structured cabling. As part of the Omega Series, it receives HDMI video, embedded audio, control signals, and Ethernet over a single CAT6/6a/7 cable run up to 330 feet (100 meters), while a local HDMI input accommodates PCs, wireless collaboration gateways, or video conferencing codecs installed near the display. The AT-OME-RX21 HDBaseT receiver with scaler supports 4K/UHD downscaling and upscaling with frame rate conversion, making it a flexible endpoint for mixed 4K and 1080p display environments. It integrates directly with Atlona Omega Series transmitters, UHD-EX Series transmitters, and presentation switchers with HDBaseT outputs for complete end-to-end AV signal extension.

Product Description

Atlona Omega 2x1 4K HDMI over HDBaseT Switcher/Receiver with Scaler - AT-OME-RX21

The AT-OME-RX21 is a two-input switcher combining a primary HDBaseT input with a local HDMI input, providing automatic source selection based on hot plug detect and active video detection. The HDBaseT input supports 4K/UHD video at 60 Hz with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling over distances up to 330 feet using CAT6/6a/7 cable, or up to 295 feet over CAT5e. The local HDMI input supports UHD at 60 Hz with full 4:4:4 chroma sampling, ideal for a laptop or wireless presentation device positioned near the display. The integrated 4K/UHD scaler handles upscaling and downscaling with selectable frame rate conversion, a pass-through mode for 1:1 output, and the ability to upsample 4:2:0 content to 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 for displays that do not natively accept 4:2:0. HDCP 2.2 compliance ensures protected content passes through authenticated device chains without interruption. The unit features analog balanced stereo audio de-embedding with independent volume and mute controls plus a five-band EQ (63 Hz, 250 Hz, 1 kHz, 4 kHz) for routing two-channel PCM audio to a sound reinforcement system. Multi-channel audio pass-through supports PCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS Digital Surround, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DTS:X. Display control is available via TCP/IP, RS-232, or CEC, eliminating the need for a separate control processor in many installations; the AT-OME-RX21 can automatically power a display on when a source connects and power it off when the source disconnects. An integrated two-port Ethernet switch allows IP control of the display and the unit itself from a single AV LAN connection. Contact closure ports trigger motorized screen or display lift operation at system power-up. The unit can also supply IEEE 802.3af PoE over HDBaseT to an Omega Series transmitter, and is manageable via Atlona Velocity Device Manager. Three internally generated test patterns support display calibration and system troubleshooting. Optional rack mounting is available with the AT-RACK-1RU shelf.

Key Features

  • 2x1 Auto-Switching (HDBaseT + HDMI) — Automatically selects the active source using hot plug detect and video detection, supporting DVRs, DisplayPort adapters, and devices that hold HPD high without active video.
  • HDBaseT Reception up to 330 ft (100 m) — Receives 4K/UHD video, audio, control, and Ethernet over a single CAT6/6a/7 cable run, or up to 295 ft over CAT5e.
  • 4K/UHD Scaler with Frame Rate Conversion — Upscales HD content for 4K displays and downscales 4K content to 1080p for HD displays or hardware video conferencing codecs, with selectable pass-through mode.
  • HDCP 2.2 Compliant — Supports the latest High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection specification for protected source and display device chains.
  • Analog Balanced Audio De-Embedding — De-embeds two-channel PCM audio to a balanced 5-pin captive screw output with five-band EQ and independent volume/mute controls for sound system integration.
  • Display Control via IP, RS-232, or CEC — Triggers display power on/off automatically based on source presence, removing the need for a dedicated control system in single-display rooms.
  • PoE Output over HDBaseT — Supplies IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet to a connected Omega Series transmitter, eliminating a local power supply at the transmitter location.
  • Dual Ethernet Ports with Integrated Network Switch — Connects the AV LAN, the display, and the upstream switcher or transmitter on a single IP network segment.
  • Contact Closure for Screen/Lift Control — Automates motorized screen or projector lift operation based on system power state, without requiring a separate AV control system.
  • Multi-Channel Audio Pass-Through — Passes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD, and other formats from either input to the HDMI output.
  • Internal Test Patterns — Three built-in test patterns support display setup, system validation, and cabling troubleshooting without an external signal source.
  • Velocity Device Manager Compatible — Supports remote management, EDID management, HDCP configuration, and firmware updates over the network.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is the AT-OME-RX21 compatible with non-Atlona HDBaseT transmitters?
The AT-OME-RX21 is designed for use with Atlona Omega Series and UHD-EX Series transmitters, as well as Atlona presentation switchers with HDBaseT outputs. Compatibility with third-party HDBaseT transmitters is not guaranteed, and Atlona recommends using matched Atlona transmitters for full feature support including PoE, control pass-through, and EDID management.
Q: What category cable is required for 4K/UHD at 330 feet?
CAT6, CAT6a, or CAT7 cable is required to achieve 4K/UHD transmission at the full 330 ft (100 m) distance. CAT5e cable supports 4K/UHD up to 295 ft (90 m) and 1080p up to 330 ft (100 m).
Q: Can the AT-OME-RX21 power a connected transmitter?
Yes. The AT-OME-RX21 supplies IEEE 802.3af PoE over the HDBaseT cable to compatible Omega Series transmitters, eliminating the need for a local power outlet at the transmitter location.
Q: Does the unit require a control processor for display automation?
No. The AT-OME-RX21 includes built-in display control via TCP/IP, RS-232, and CEC. It can automatically power a display on when a source is detected and power it off when the source is removed, without an external control system.
Q: What audio formats are supported for pass-through?
The unit passes through PCM 2.0, LPCM 5.1/7.1, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS Digital Surround, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DTS:X from either the HDMI or HDBaseT input to the HDMI output.
Q: Can the AT-OME-RX21 be rack-mounted?
The AT-OME-RX21 is not a rack-mount unit in its standard form, but it can be installed in a rack using the optional AT-RACK-1RU 1U rack shelf, which accommodates the unit and its power supply.
Q: What is the warranty on the AT-OME-RX21?
Atlona products are covered under the Atlona Limited Warranty. Full warranty terms are available at atlona.com/warranty. For purchase, support, and configuration assistance, contact Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net.
Q: Does the AT-OME-RX21 support USB extension?
No. The AT-OME-RX21 does not support USB over HDBaseT. For USB extension in video conferencing applications, Atlona recommends the AT-OME-SR21, which adds USB hub and extension capability to the same switcher/scaler/receiver feature set.
