Product Overview
The Atlona AT-OCS-900N is a network-enabled multi-function ceiling sensor that detects room occupancy, temperature, and ambient light level for automated AV system control. Using passive infrared (PIR) technology and IP-based communication, it integrates with Atlona Velocity, Omega, and WAVE product ecosystems to automatically start up or shut down AV systems based on room occupancy. The AT-OCS-900N is the ideal PIR occupancy sensor for conference rooms, classrooms, and huddle spaces where energy-efficient, touchless AV automation is required.
Product Description
The Atlona AT-OCS-900N is a ceiling-mounted multi-function sensor for AV automation in commercial environments. It uses passive infrared (PIR) detection technology to sense occupancy in the coverage area and communicates that state over an IP network to Atlona products including the AT-WAVE-101, AT-OME-MS42, AT-OME-MS52W, AT-OME-MH21, AT-OME-MH21-CP, AT-UHD-SW-510W, and Velocity AV control systems. When occupancy is detected, these products can automatically power on displays, select inputs, and activate AV systems; when the space becomes vacant, the system shuts down automatically. The sensor is supplied with two interchangeable lenses: a standard lens covering 900 square feet (83.6 m2) and an accessory high-ceiling lens covering up to 2,000 square feet (185.8 m2). A blinder insert is included to limit the field of view to 240 degrees where full 360-degree detection is not desirable, such as near doorways or windows with cross-traffic. Beyond occupancy, the AT-OCS-900N also captures ambient temperature (−40°C to +125°C) and ambient light levels (0 to 65,535 lux with RGBW 16-bit color spectrum), enabling integration with building management and lighting systems. Open-protocol network communication uses UDP, TCP, WebSocket (JSON over WebSocket), MQTT, and mDNS — allowing third-party ventilation, lighting, and energy management systems to consume the sensor data. A single PoE (802.3af) connection provides both power and network communication over one cable. Installation uses self-contained spring-loaded clamps that secure the sensor directly to a ceiling tile without additional hardware. Configurable LED indicators can be customized for both color and illumination mode to match room decor or operational preference. The unit is NDAA-899 compliant, CE and FCC certified, and UL 916 listed.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: What AV products does the AT-OCS-900N work with natively?
- The AT-OCS-900N communicates directly over the network with the AT-WAVE-101, AT-OME-MS42, AT-OME-MS52W, AT-OME-MH21, AT-OME-MH21-CP, and AT-UHD-SW-510W for automatic display on/off control. It also integrates with Velocity AV control systems for more complex automation logic.
- Q: What area does the AT-OCS-900N cover?
- The standard included lens covers 900 square feet (83.6 m2). The included accessory high-ceiling lens covers up to 2,000 square feet (185.8 m2) at greater ceiling heights. The blinder insert can reduce the field of view from 360 degrees to 240 degrees to avoid false triggers from doorways or windows.
- Q: How is the AT-OCS-900N powered and connected?
- The sensor is powered by a single PoE connection compliant with IEEE 802.3af. The same cable provides both network communication and power, so only one Cat cable run to the ceiling is needed.
- Q: Can the AT-OCS-900N integrate with third-party systems like HVAC or lighting?
- Yes. The sensor's open-protocol design supports UDP, TCP, JSON over WebSocket, MQTT, and mDNS, allowing third-party building management, lighting, and ventilation systems to subscribe to occupancy, temperature, and ambient light data.
- Q: Does the AT-OCS-900N only detect occupancy, or does it measure other environmental data?
- In addition to PIR-based occupancy detection, the AT-OCS-900N measures ambient temperature (-40°C to +125°C) and ambient light level (0 to 65,535 lux with RGBW 16-bit color spectrum), providing a complete environmental snapshot for automation and building management systems.
- Q: How is the sensor mounted to the ceiling?
- The AT-OCS-900N uses self-contained spring-loaded clamps that grip a standard ceiling tile, requiring no additional mounting hardware or tools for installation.
- Q: Is the AT-OCS-900N compliant with government procurement requirements?
- Yes. The AT-OCS-900N is NDAA Section 899 compliant, making it suitable for government, defense, and federal agency AV installations with supply chain security requirements.
- Q: Where can I purchase the AT-OCS-900N?
- The AT-OCS-900N is available at creationnetworks.net, a professional commercial AV reseller.
