Product Overview
The Atlona AT-OMNI-111 is a single-channel OmniStream AVoIP encoder in a compact half-rack enclosure, designed for distributing 4K/60 4:4:4 HDMI sources over standard Gigabit Ethernet networks in commercial AV installations. Part of Atlona's OmniStream AV over IP platform, the AT-OMNI-111 features a dual encoding engine with independent scalers, RS-232 and IR control pass-through, and the advanced VCx codec for artifact-free video and ultra-low latency. Integrators specifying a rack-mount 4K AVoIP encoder or an HDMI over IP transmitter for enterprise, education, or government AV systems will find the AT-OMNI-111 provides the performance, density, and network security capabilities required for large-scale networked AV deployments.
Product Description
The Atlona AT-OMNI-111 is a networked AV encoder for HDMI sources up to 4K/60 4:4:4 and HDR, plus embedded audio and RS-232 or IR control pass-through. It is powered by Atlona's VCx codec, which delivers 4K/60 4:4:4 from encode to decode with artifact-free image presentation and encode-to-decode latency under one frame. Unlike the wall plate AT-OMNI-111-WP, the rack-mount AT-OMNI-111 houses dual encoding engines with independent scaling engines: a primary encoder handling up to 4K/60 4:4:4 and a secondary encoder for simultaneous 1080p streams, enabling multiview processing on the AT-OMNI-121 decoder which can ingest up to four OMNI-111 streams and display them simultaneously on a single screen. The half-rack enclosure features front-to-rear airflow with temperature-controlled fans, allowing high-density side-by-side rack installation using the optional AT-OMNI-1XX-RACK-1RU shelf. Power is delivered via IEEE 802.3af PoE from any PoE-capable switch, or locally using the optional AT-PS-48083-C power supply. OmniStream's IP multicast architecture allows a single AT-OMNI-111 stream to reach any number of AT-OMNI-121 decoders simultaneously with no additional encoder load. AES-128 content encryption, IEEE 802.1x network authentication, and SMPTE-standard FEC ensure the AT-OMNI-111 meets enterprise IT security and reliability standards. Encoded video stream thumbnails are viewable on a Velocity touch panel or decoder web GUI before source selection, and Ethernet link testing verifies network infrastructure without requiring visual checks at each display location. The AT-OMNI-111 is managed via a standalone web GUI or Atlona Velocity Device Manager for centralized multi-device configuration, firmware management, and event-based monitoring. RS-232 and IR pass-through capabilities extend control connectivity from the encoder to remote network-connected locations. Note that this product has limited availability; a product lifecycle update is forthcoming.
Key Features
- Dual Encoding Engines with Independent Scalers (VCx) — Primary encoder streams 4K/60 4:4:4; secondary encoder delivers simultaneous 1080p for multiview, enabling the AT-OMNI-121 to display four sources on one screen.
- VCx Codec — 4K/60 4:4:4 Artifact-Free — Delivers pristine image quality for computer-generated content and fast-motion video at encode-to-decode latency under one frame.
- RS-232 and IR Control Pass-Through — Passes bidirectional RS-232 and IR control signals between the network and remote-connected AV devices, extending control reach without separate control cabling.
- Full HDR Support — Supports HDR10 at 10-bit, HLG for 60p HDR broadcast, and Dolby Vision at 12-bit, all at up to 60 Hz.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: What is the difference between the AT-OMNI-111 and the AT-OMNI-111-WP?
- The AT-OMNI-111 is a half-rack enclosure with dual encoding engines, active cooling, RS-232 and IR control pass-through, and full 4K/60 4:4:4 support. The AT-OMNI-111-WP is a US two-gang wall plate encoder with a single encoding engine and passive-style thermal design that limits 4K/60 to 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. The AT-OMNI-111 is suited to rack-based, centralized equipment locations; the AT-OMNI-111-WP installs discreetly at the source connection point.
- Q: Can the AT-OMNI-111 stream to multiple displays at once?
- Yes. OmniStream uses IP multicast, meaning one AT-OMNI-111 encoder stream is received simultaneously by any number of AT-OMNI-121 decoders on the network. There is no additional load on the encoder regardless of how many decoders receive the stream.
- Q: What is the multiview capability of the AT-OMNI-111?
- The AT-OMNI-111 sends both a primary 4K/60 4:4:4 stream and a secondary 1080p stream simultaneously. An AT-OMNI-121 decoder can ingest secondary streams from up to four AT-OMNI-111 encoders and display all four on a single screen simultaneously, without a dedicated video processor.
- Q: Does the AT-OMNI-111 support RS-232 and IR control?
- Yes. The AT-OMNI-111 includes a 6-pin captive screw connector with RS-232 on port 1 and IR on port 2. Both provide bidirectional pass-through between the network and connected control system or AV devices, extending control reach to remote encoder or decoder locations.
- Q: What network switch specifications are required?
- A managed Gigabit Ethernet switch with IGMP snooping enabled is required for multicast control. Atlona publishes Atlona Certified Switch configurations for Cisco, NETGEAR, and other major brands to simplify deployment. For 10 Gigabit uplinks between switches, the VCx codec allows numerous 4K streams over a single 10 GbE uplink.
- Q: Is the AT-OMNI-111 still available for purchase?
- The AT-OMNI-111 currently has limited availability, and a product lifecycle update is forthcoming. Contact Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net for current stock status, lead times, and next-generation OmniStream platform guidance.
- Q: What certifications are required to receive Atlona OmniStream technical support?
- Atlona requires dealers in North and Latin America to complete the Authorized OmniStream AV over IP certification course before accessing advanced technical support. This free online course is available at atlona.com/training.
