The Z2-B provides two zones of 30-watt, 70.7V/100V output and operates in multiple configuration modes: two-zone indirect-field sound masking up to 7,000 square feet, a single zone of direct-field masking, or a split configuration with one zone masking and the other handling paging and background music. Integrated analog noise generators feed preconfigured masking filter presets selected by sound masking expert Dr. Bob Chanaud — the same proprietary Chanaud filters AtlasIED has deployed for over forty years, including in military and government facilities. Presets are user-selectable from the front panel to match the installation type, and custom presets built in the included PC project design software load via the front panel USB port.

For conference room speech privacy, the Z2-B includes a Speech Privacy Enhancement mode that can be engaged while a meeting is in progress, applying additional acoustical energy to the surrounding environment to raise privacy levels for room occupants. Activation is by hardwired switch, an iOS or Android application, or an optional wireless desktop or wall-mount switch, with an optional wired or wireless sign to indicate when the mode is active. On the audio side, a selectable mic/line input supports paging or recorded messaging with VOX priority muting, while a 3.5mm summed auxiliary input and Bluetooth streaming handle background music.
