Product Overview
The Atlas Sound WMA10-23 is a 10RU wall mount rack cabinet built for AV and IT equipment installations where floor space is unavailable and security matters. Its 16-gauge welded steel construction, 18" deep center section, and adjustable EIA rack rails make it a practical enclosure for amplifiers, network switches, and control processors in commercial buildings. The hinged, lockable design gives technicians full rear access to cabling without removing equipment, which shortens both installation and service calls. UL 1678 listing and TAA-compliant US manufacturing support specification in government and institutional projects.
Product Description

The WMA10-23 pairs a 4-1/2" deep rear section with an 18" deep center section, providing 23.5" of total depth for full-size rack mount AV equipment plus rear cable service room. The welded 16-gauge steel body resists racking and sagging, and an exclusive internal alignment frame supports the center section through its entire swing range — a meaningful advantage when the cabinet is loaded with heavy amplifiers. Adjustable front rack rails are tapped 10-32 at standard EIA 1/2" spacing, ride in continuous-slot hat channels for full front-to-back positioning, and carry hash marks that make rack unit counting fast during equipment rack installation.
Field workflow drove much of the design. The mirror-image back pan allows left- or right-hand hinging of the center section regardless of orientation, and the back pan ships boxed separately so a contractor can send the rear section ahead for rough-in by other trades. A 12.5" x 12.5" cutout in the back pan permits cable entry directly through the mounting surface, while 16 conduit knockouts on the top and 16 on the bottom of the rear section accommodate conduit runs and wireless antennas. Raised mounting embosses and 1/4" boss detents on 12" centers let installers add a plywood, aluminum, or steel sub-plate for power and accessory mounting inside the cabinet. A side-lock security system joins the center section to the back pan so one technician can complete the hang safely, and an interchangeable right- or left-hand cylinder lock secures the enclosure. Perforated side vents cool rack-mounted electronics passively, and removable top and bottom 3RU panels accept Atlas fan panels when active ventilation is required. The cabinet is finished in black electrostatic powder coat and ships with one set of plated rack rails plus 100 rack screws with captive washers.
Key Features
- 10RU Capacity, 23.5" Total Depth — An 18" usable center-section depth fits full-depth amplifiers, DSPs, and network equipment in a wall mount AV rack footprint.
- 16-Gauge Welded Steel Construction — High-strength fabrication with an internal alignment frame prevents sagging across the center section's full travel range.
- Adjustable EIA Rack Rails — 10-32 tapped rails on continuous-slot hat channels adjust front to back, with securing holes for fixed positioning and hash marks for fast RU counting.
- One-Person Installation Design — The side-lock system joins the center section to the back pan safely without a second technician.
- Reversible Hinging — A mirror-image back pan allows left- or right-hand swing of the center section to suit the room layout.
- Extensive Cable Provisions — A 12.5" x 12.5" back-pan cutout plus 32 conduit knockouts (top and bottom) handle structured cabling, conduit, and wireless antennas.
- Ventilation Ready — Perforated side vents are standard, and removable 3RU top and bottom panels accept Atlas fan panels for active cooling.
- Keyed Security — An interchangeable right- or left-hand cylinder lock protects installed electronics in public and shared spaces.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can one technician install the WMA10-23?
Yes. The side-lock security system and separately boxed back pan were designed so the rear section can be mounted first and the loaded center section attached safely by a single installer.
How do cables enter the cabinet?
Cables can pass directly through the 12.5" x 12.5" cutout in the back pan, or through any of the 32 conduit knockouts on the top and bottom of the rear section, which also suit wireless antenna mounting.
Does the cabinet support active cooling?
Yes. Removable 3RU top and bottom panels in the center section accept Atlas fan panels for forced ventilation; blank panels ship installed, and perforated side vents provide passive airflow by default.
Are rear rack rails included?
One set of front plated rack rails and 100 rack screws ship in the box. The optional WMA-RR10 rear rail pair is available for equipment that requires four-point mounting.
Is the WMA10-23 suitable for government projects?
Yes. It is manufactured in the United States, TAA compliant, and UL 1678 listed, which supports federal, state, and institutional procurement requirements.
Can the door swing be reversed in the field?
Yes. The mirror-image back pan allows left- or right-hand hinging of the center section regardless of mounting orientation, and the cylinder lock is interchangeable for either hand.
