Product Overview
The Atlas Sound VT-157UCN is a UL Listed surface-mount compression driver loudspeaker with a factory-installed 15-watt 70.7V transformer, engineered for emergency voice/tone fire protective signaling systems. Part of the proven, patented VT Series, it meets or exceeds UL Standard 1480 for fire protective signaling when used with compatible control equipment, and is appropriate for mass notification, public address, and industrial paging. The die-cast, water-sealed housing resists vandalism, vermin, moisture, corrosion, and vibration for reliable indoor or outdoor service life.
Product Description
The VT-157UCN provides high acoustic output from a compact compression driver format, rated at 96.9 dB sensitivity (1W/1m) with greater than 190° dispersion at the −6 dB point across 1 kHz and 2 kHz octave bands. This wide coverage angle is critical in emergency signaling applications where sound must reach occupants across open horizontal zones with no dead spots. The 70.7V transformer offers power taps at 15, 8, 4, and 2 watts, enabling direct connection to 70V distributed amplifier systems with flexible per-speaker wattage selection. Frequency response is 600 Hz to 5.5 kHz, a bandwidth specifically suited to voice intelligibility and tone signal (including NFPA 72 temporal pattern signals). A DC blocking capacitor (C) is included, enabling operation on supervised speaker lines as required by UL 1480 and NFPA 72 compliant fire alarm audio systems. Wiring terminates to a barrier strip for clean, reliable field connections. The surface-mount housing mounts to standard 4" electrical outlet boxes, simplifying rough-in and final placement. Optional accessories — indoor/outdoor enclosures, bi-directional housings, adapter plates, and rings — are available separately. The model designation with “N” suffix specifies Neutral Gray finish; Red-finish models are available with the “R” suffix. This model is identical to the VT-152UCN except for the transformer voltage: the VT-157UCN operates on 70.7V, while the VT-152UCN operates on 25V.
