Product Overview
The Atlas Sound VP60R is a recessed circular vandal-proof baffle assembly designed for tamper-resistant installation of standard 8" cone loudspeakers or APF Series re-entrant horn speakers. Built for high-abuse environments such as correctional facilities, transportation terminals, and industrial spaces, it combines aluminum alloy strength with stainless steel mesh impact protection. UL Listed (Safety Listing 1480), BAA and TAA compliant, the VP60R is specified wherever surface-accessible speaker hardware is not acceptable.
Product Description
The VP60R baffle is engineered for recessed installations where physical security and acoustic performance must coexist. The trim ring is cast from aluminum alloy with a tensile strength of 44,000 PSI — roughly twice the strength of conventional cast aluminum baffles — and features a 3/4" shielding collar that protects the speaker cone from direct impact or poking. The speaker driver mounts to welded studs behind a perforated 22-gauge CRS (cold-rolled steel) plate, which is further protected by a stainless steel woven wire-mesh screen positioned 3/8" in front of the plate. The mesh screen is reinforced with a thick bead of interior sealant to resist tearing or deformation from sustained impact. Installation is secured via tamperproof heat-treated alloy screws using a special wrench that is supplied with the unit; mounting holes are countersunk for additional security. The finish is satin aluminum with an acrylic coating for long-term corrosion resistance. For horn installations, the adapter plate Model FAMT-6 is required (sold separately). The VP60R accommodates most standard 8" cone drivers and select APF Series horns, giving AV designers flexibility in speaker selection while maintaining a unified security profile.
