Product Description
The UHT70C-U51-8 features an 8" single voice coil driver equipped with a dual (whizzer) cone and 10 oz. ceramic magnet to maximize frequency response extension and maintain clear speech intelligibility at the power levels required for fire alarm voice systems. The fire-retardant and moisture-proof cone treatment ensures the speaker meets UL requirements for life safety environments where environmental exposure may occur. A factory-mounted 70.7V transformer provides power taps at 0.5, 1, 2, and 5 watts, allowing system designers to balance load distribution and coverage area. Six-inch color-coded leads simplify field wiring identification, and an integrated DC blocking capacitor protects the voice coil from DC faults on the signaling circuit. The U51-8 baffle provides a clean, unobtrusive ceiling appearance consistent with other architectural finishes in occupied commercial spaces. To comply with UL 1480 requirements, the speaker assembly must be installed with a UL-approved companion enclosure; Atlas offers a selection of compatible enclosures.
