The Atlas Sound SD72WV is an 8-inch in-ceiling speaker package combining a dual-cone loudspeaker, a factory-installed 25V/70.7V 5-watt line matching transformer, and a CRS white baffle with a front-mounted volume control. Designed for commercial paging and background music systems, the SD72WV provides integrators and facilities teams with a complete, installation-ready assembly that eliminates the need to source and wire separate transformer and baffle components. Safety listed to UL 1480 and UL 2043, it is cleared for use in plenum ceiling environments.
Product Description
The SD72WV uses the next generation of AtlasIED’s high-performance cone speaker platform, sharing sonic characteristics with the preceding C-Series to ensure predictable acoustic results for designers who have specified AtlasIED products on previous projects. The 8-inch, 25-watt speaker incorporates a curvilinear treated paper cone that reduces harmonic distortion, and a full 1-inch diameter copper voice coil on a black anodized aluminum former for efficient power dissipation and long-term reliability. A 10-oz. ceramic magnet provides the motor force required for the 97 dB sensitivity rating and 55 Hz to 19 kHz frequency response. The dual-voltage transformer supports both 25V and 70.7V distribution systems with tap selections at 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, and 5 watts, covering a broad range of zone-level configurations. The factory-installed CRS white powder coat baffle features concealed speaker mounting studs and standard hole patterns compatible with AtlasIED 8-inch tile bridges, mounting rings, and enclosures — its dimensions match the Atlas Sound Model 62-8. The front-mounted volume control is factory-wired to the voice coil and rated at 5 watts audio; the control knob can be removed when local volume adjustment is not desired. Units ship fully assembled, ready for installation without additional field wiring of the baffle or transformer.
