The Atlas Sound SBMS is an 8-inch surface-mount ceiling speaker package designed specifically for open beam and exposed-structure ceiling environments, including big-box retail, warehouses, and commercial spaces where standard in-ceiling installation is not feasible. The unit includes an 8-inch dual-cone loudspeaker, pre-mounted 25V/70.7V transformer, baffle, and enclosure with integrated I-beam clamp mounts for direct attachment to structural beams and girders. UL 1480 listed. Finished in durable neutral white powder coat.

Product Description

The SBMS is engineered for environments where dropped ceilings do not exist and speakers must mount directly to exposed structural elements such as I-beams, girders, or open joists. The square enclosure design blends with the geometric lines of open beam ceiling structures, providing a clean aesthetic without requiring custom fabrication. Clamp mounts are integrated into the enclosure, allowing direct attachment to standard I-beams and other structural members without additional hardware. The 8-inch dual-cone driver delivers a frequency response of 85 Hz to 20 kHz with 92 dB sensitivity and 105-degree dispersion, providing clear speech intelligibility for paging and background music coverage across large open floor plans. The built-in 25V/70.7V transformer includes taps at 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 watts to match the speaker output to the system’s zone requirements. Integral conduit knockouts support 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch rigid conduit where required by local code, while an integral Romex-style connector accommodates non-conduit wiring runs. Lead wire extensions facilitate fast field termination. The durable white powder coat finish is appropriate for environments where the speaker is visible. Certified to UL 1480.
