Product Overview

The Atlas Sound IP-SDMF is a PoE+ indoor wall mount IP speaker with an LCD display, LED flashers, and a talkback microphone, built for network-wide mass notification and paging over existing LAN/WAN infrastructure. Part of the AtlasIED IPX series, it registers directly as an endpoint in InformaCast and Revolution advanced notification platforms, or as a SIP device on a VoIP communications manager where third-party software is not required. The combination of high-output audio, scrolling visual text, and LED alerting supports ADA Title II "effective communication" requirements in government and public buildings. For IT managers and integrators standardizing paging, bells, and emergency alerts on one enterprise platform, the IP-SDMF is a single-cable IP speaker installation that covers audio and visual notification together.

Product Description

Atlas Sound IP-SDMF PoE+ indoor wall mount IP speaker with LCD display and LED flashers

The IP-SDMF is fitted with an 8-inch coaxial speaker optimized for voice intelligibility, with 98dB SPL average sensitivity and 105-degree dispersion to overcome high ambient noise in large spaces such as gymnasiums, shop floors, and transportation hubs. A 15-watt integrated amplifier drives the primary speaker, powered entirely over IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (25 watts max), so a single category cable delivers power, audio, text, and control — a substantial savings in conduit and electrical labor on commercial paging system installation. The 18-gauge powder-coated steel grille in neutral white stands up to commercial environments, and the speaker, grille, and amp/control board ship factory assembled.

In standby, the high-resolution LCD displays NTP-synchronized time, eliminating the need for a separate master clock system in schools and offices. When a notification arrives, the display switches to scrolling text while LED flashers below the display alert occupants to incoming audio and text messages in accordance with ADA compliance — critical in government spaces subject to Title II effective-communication rules. The built-in talkback microphone enables two-way intercom communication for security and emergency response workflows. Auto-registration via SLP (Singlewire), DHCP Option 72 (Syn-Apps), or IEDNet+ places the speaker on the voice VLAN like a VoIP handset, sharing the same QoS as the phone system, and supported codecs include G.711 u-law/a-law and G.722 wideband. GPIO — two general purpose inputs and one 2A relay output — triggers critical alerts or ties in third-party systems, and balanced aux line in/out extends audio connectivity. Flush, surface, and slanted wall mounting enclosures are sold separately. Browse companion endpoints and amplifiers in our AtlasIED collection.

Key Features

  • PoE+ Single-Cable Installation — IEEE 802.3at power (25W max) carries power, audio, text, and control over one network drop, cutting installation cost.
  • High-Output 8" Coaxial Driver — 98dB SPL sensitivity and 105-degree dispersion deliver intelligible voice in noisy or large spaces.
  • LCD Display with NTP Clock — Shows synchronized time in standby and scrolling text notifications when active, replacing separate master clock systems.
  • LED Flashers for ADA Compliance — Visual alerting below the display supports Title II effective-communication requirements for occupants with hearing impairments.
  • Talkback Microphone — Two-way intercom capability supports security check-ins and emergency communications.
  • InformaCast and Revolution Native — Registers directly as an endpoint in Singlewire InformaCast and Syn-Apps Revolution mass notification platforms.
  • Direct SIP Registration — Operates as a SIP device on a VoIP communications manager when third-party notification software is not deployed.
  • VoIP-Grade Audio Codecs — G.711 u-law/a-law and G.722 wideband audio at 64 kbit/s integrate with enterprise telephony standards.
  • GPIO Integration — Two general purpose inputs and one 2A @ 30VDC output trigger alerts or connect third-party systems.
  • Voice VLAN Auto-Registration — Provisions like a VoIP handset via SLP, DHCP Option 72, or IEDNet+ with shared QoS for guaranteed delivery.
  • Balanced Aux Line In/Out — 2.8Vpp 10k-ohm balanced connections extend audio to or from adjacent equipment.
  • TAA Compliant — Eligible for U.S. federal government procurement.

Typical Applications

  • Government spaces and public buildings (ADA Title II communication)
  • Training rooms and multi-purpose rooms
  • Commercial meeting spaces and all-hands rooms
  • House of worship paging and notification
  • Auditorium and assembly alerting

Frequently Asked Questions

Which mass notification platforms does the IP-SDMF support?
It registers as a native endpoint in Singlewire InformaCast and Syn-Apps Revolution. Where those platforms are not deployed, it registers directly to a SIP server or VoIP communications manager for paging and critical alerts.

Does it need local power?
No. It is powered by IEEE 802.3at PoE+ from a network switch (25W max), so installation requires only one category cable. An external power supply option is available if PoE+ is not present.

How does it help with ADA compliance?
The scrolling LCD text display and LED flashers deliver visual notification alongside audio, supporting ADA Title II effective-communication requirements in state and local government facilities.

Is mounting hardware included?
Mounting screws are packaged with the speaker, but wall enclosures — flush (IP-FEST-SD), surface (IP-SEST-SD), and slanted (IP-SEA-SD) — are sold separately. Contact Creation Networks to spec the correct enclosure for your installation.

Can it replace a master clock system?
Yes. In standby the display shows time synchronized via NTP, eliminating a separate master clock in schools and offices.

Is the IP-SDMF eligible for government procurement?
Yes. It is TAA compliant and well suited to federal, state, and local government projects.

What warranty and support apply?
AtlasIED provides a 1-year limited warranty, and Creation Networks supports integrators with pre-sale design assistance and post-sale technical support.
