Product Overview
The AtlasIED IP-PM8GD-B is an 8" pendant mount PoE+ IP speaker system built for network-wide paging, mass notification, and intercom in open-ceiling commercial spaces. As part of the AtlasIED IPX Series, it registers directly as an endpoint in InformaCast, Revolution, and GCK advanced notification platforms, or as a SIP device on a VoIP communications manager. A single Ethernet drop delivers both power and audio, which simplifies commercial IP speaker installation in warehouses, gymnasiums, transportation hubs, and other exposed-structure environments. For integrators standardizing on a VoIP paging system, this pendant speaker extends coverage where ceiling tiles are not available.
Product Description
The IP-PM8GD-B pairs an 8" high-efficiency coaxial driver with an integrated 15-watt amplifier, all powered over a single network cable via IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (it also operates at reduced 9-watt output on 802.3af PoE). The treated-paper coaxial driver delivers 86 Hz to 15.5 kHz response with 106 dB continuous sensitivity and 105-degree dispersion, providing intelligible voice paging and background music coverage from elevated mounting positions.

On the network side, the speaker supports dynamic or static IP addressing, 10/100Base-T Ethernet, IEEE 802.1q VLAN tagging, and standard VoIP audio codecs including G.711 u-law/a-law and G.722 wideband. Auto-registration options cover SLP for Singlewire InformaCast deployments, DHCP Option 72 for Syn-Apps Revolution, and IEDNet+ for AtlasIED applications, with an HTTP GUI available for static configuration. In Cisco environments, the speaker can join Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) architecture, maintaining local call processing and emergency paging even during a WAN outage — a meaningful resilience advantage for enterprise mass notification system design.
The black pendant enclosure ships with 3 meters of suspension cable and mounting hardware, and it is compatible with standard 3/4" ceiling fan hardware for flexible rigging. Where third-party notification software is not in play, direct SIP registration enables two-way intercom and critical-alert paging without additional middleware. For school paging, government building notification, healthcare communication, and industrial PA over IP, this speaker integrates into existing LAN/WAN infrastructure managed by the IT department rather than a separate 70V audio plant.
Key Features
- 8" High-Efficiency Coaxial Driver — The treated-paper coaxial speaker delivers clear, full-range voice and music reproduction across open commercial spaces.
- PoE+ Powered (IEEE 802.3at) — A single network cable carries power and audio, producing up to 15 watts of output and eliminating local AC power requirements.
- InformaCast, Revolution, and GCK Endpoint — The speaker registers natively with leading mass notification platforms for bell schedules, scheduled announcements, and emergency alerting.
- Direct SIP Registration — Without third-party software, the speaker joins a SIP server or VoIP communications manager for paging and two-way intercom.
- Cisco SRST Support — The speaker remains operational within Cisco Survivable Remote Site Telephony architecture during WAN outages, preserving emergency communication.
- Standard VoIP Codecs — G.711 u-law/a-law and G.722 wideband audio at 64 kbit/s ensure compatibility with enterprise telephony systems.
- Flexible Network Configuration — Dynamic or static IP addressing, 802.1q VLAN tagging, and an HTTP GUI simplify deployment on managed networks.
- Complete Rigging Hardware Included — Three meters of 2mm suspension cable ship in the box, with compatibility for standard 3/4" ceiling fan hardware.
Typical Applications
- House of worship paging and overflow audio
- Government spaces requiring networked mass notification
- Commercial meeting spaces with open-ceiling architecture
- Multi-purpose rooms and all-hands rooms

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the IP-PM8GD-B work with InformaCast?
Yes. It registers as a native endpoint within Singlewire InformaCast, as well as Syn-Apps Revolution and GCK advanced notification applications.
Can it be used without third-party notification software?
Yes. The speaker can register as a SIP device directly to a SIP server or VoIP communications manager for paging and two-way communication.
What PoE budget should I plan for?
On an IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) switch port the speaker produces up to 15 watts of audio output; on 802.3af it operates at a reduced 9-watt output. Plan switch power budgets accordingly.
How is the speaker suspended?
It ships with 3 meters of 2mm suspension cable and mounting hardware, and it is compatible with standard 3/4" ceiling fan hardware for pendant rigging in open-ceiling spaces.
Does it survive a WAN outage in a Cisco deployment?
Yes. The speaker is supported within Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) architecture, so local paging continues if the connection to the centralized Communications Manager is interrupted.
