Product Overview
The AtlasIED IP-APX is a PoE+ weather resistant IP horn speaker with constant directivity, a rotating bell, and a wall/pole mount, built for outdoor IP paging and mass notification beyond the reach of desktop telephony. The horn maintains a 60-degree by 40-degree dispersion pattern across its controlled 1.25–10 kHz band, so coverage on site matches what was modeled in acoustic simulation software. As an IPX Series endpoint, it registers natively within Singlewire InformaCast, Syn-Apps Revolution, Intrado, and AtlasIED notification platforms, or directly to a SIP server. With 107 dB sensitivity and 25 watts of PoE+ power, one network drop covers parking lots, loading docks, and exterior gathering areas.
Product Description
The IP-APX extends a VoIP paging system installation outdoors without dedicated amplifier runs or 70 V wiring. The loudspeaker is molded from high-impact, neutral-grey polycarbonate resin with a UV light inhibitor, and the environment-resistant design is suited to exterior mounting on building walls and poles. Its defining mechanical feature is the rotating bell, which pivots in precise 15-degree increments — integrators can set the exact projection angle specified in an acoustic model, then lock it down with the triple lock security mounting method for long-term stability.

On the network side, the IP-APX behaves like any enterprise VoIP endpoint. Auto-registration via SLP (Singlewire), DHCP Option 72 (Syn-Apps/Intrado), or IEDNet+ provisions the horn on the voice VLAN, and an HTTP GUI handles static configuration. In Cisco Unified Communications Manager environments, the endpoint supports publisher-subscriber SIP service failover, preserving paging at remote sites during a WAN outage — a meaningful resilience feature for campus emergency notification systems. The die-cast mounting bracket attaches to standard electrical outlet boxes banded to poles, simplifying outdoor speaker installation on light poles and structures. Two general purpose inputs and a 2 A relay output integrate gates, strobes, and third-party alarm contacts, while balanced aux line-in and line-out connections carry analog program audio. A secondary 8-ohm amplifier output can drive an additional passive speaker from the same endpoint. Pair the IP-APX with indoor IPX endpoints from the AtlasIED collection at Creation Networks for unified indoor-outdoor coverage.
Key Features
- Constant Directivity Coverage — 60° x 40° dispersion held across a wide frequency range delivers predictable beamwidth control that matches acoustic simulations.
- Rotating Bell in 15-Degree Increments — On-site aiming locks to the exact projection angles detailed in system design software.
- Weather Resistant Construction — High-impact neutral-grey polycarbonate resin with UV inhibitor stands up to outdoor exposure.
- PoE+ Powered — IEEE 802.3at compliant at 25 W max, with an external power supply option where PoE+ is unavailable.
- High-Output Horn — 107 dB at 1 W / 1 m average sensitivity projects intelligible announcements across large exterior areas.
- Native Notification Platform Registration — Auto-registers within InformaCast, Revolution, Intrado, and AtlasIED applications, or directly to a SIP server.
- Cisco Call Manager Failover Support — Publisher-subscriber SIP service failover maintains remote-site paging during WAN outages.
- Wall/Pole Mount with Triple Lock — Die-cast bracket mounts to standard E.O. boxes banded to poles and secures with a triple lock method.
- GPI/O and Aux Audio — Two general purpose inputs, one 2 A relay output, and balanced line-in/line-out for third-party integration.
- Secondary Speaker Output — Integrated amplifier drives an additional 8-ohm speaker from the same network endpoint.
Typical Applications
- Government spaces and campuses requiring exterior mass notification
- Commercial meeting space exteriors, courtyards, and parking areas
- House of worship campuses with outdoor gathering areas
- Auditorium and multi-purpose facility exterior coverage

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the IP-APX suitable for outdoor installation?
Yes. The horn is weather resistant, molded from high-impact polycarbonate resin with a UV light inhibitor, and designed for exterior wall and pole mounting.
What notification platforms does it support?
The IP-APX registers as a communication endpoint directly within Singlewire InformaCast, Syn-Apps Revolution, Intrado, and AtlasIED notification applications, or as a SIP device directly to a SIP server or VoIP communications manager.
Does it work in Cisco environments?
Yes. In Cisco UCM environments, IPX endpoints register to Cisco's basic or advanced third-party SIP device service. The IP-APX also supports publisher-subscriber SIP service failover for call processing redundancy during WAN outages; the advanced third-party SIP device service is required for publisher-subscriber configurations.
How is the horn aimed after installation?
The rotating bell pivots in precise 15-degree increments, allowing the installer to set the exact projection angle from the acoustic design and secure it with the triple lock mounting method.
How does it mount to a pole?
The die-cast mounting bracket attaches to standard electrical outlet boxes banded to poles, and the same bracket supports wall mounting on building exteriors.
Can it drive an additional speaker?
Yes. The integrated amplifier provides a secondary 8-ohm output, so one network endpoint can power an additional passive speaker.
What warranty applies?
AtlasIED covers the IP-APX with a 60-month warranty from date of purchase. Creation Networks provides design assistance and post-sale support for indoor-outdoor IPX deployments.
