The IP-8SM is fitted with an 8-inch (205 mm) coaxial speaker optimized for voice intelligibility, driven by an integrated 15-watt amplifier with an 8-ohm primary speaker output. An omnidirectional subminiature electret condenser microphone mounts behind the grille's steel perforation adjacent to the speaker, enabling two-way intercom or audio monitoring from the speaker location to any PC or phone handset — a key requirement for school safety and physical security deployments. The 18-gauge metal grille provides security and durability in commercial environments, finished in neutral white electrostatic powder coat with all mounting screws included; the speaker, grille, and amp/control board ship factory assembled. On the network side, the speaker supports IEEE 802.3 10/100Base-T Ethernet, 802.1q VLAN tagging, and 802.3at PoE+ power, with auto-registration via SLP for Singlewire InformaCast, DHCP Option 72 for Syn-Apps, or IEDNet+ for AtlasIED applications — plus a built-in HTTP GUI for static configuration.
