The Atlas Sound GD87W is a complete 8" coaxial in-ceiling speaker package that includes a factory-installed 8-watt 70.7V transformer and a white CRS 62-8 baffle. It delivers the same sonic characteristics as the legacy AtlasIED C803A, allowing seamless expansion or replacement in existing C803A-based systems. The GD87W is UL1480 and UL2043 listed, making it suitable for life safety paging and plenum installations. It is an ideal primary speaker for distributed background music and paging in restaurants, retail, offices, healthcare, and hospitality environments.
Product Description
The GD87W combines a high-performance 8" coaxial driver with a factory-matched 70.7V transformer and 62-8 baffle in a single, pre-assembled package ready for installation. The coaxial driver integrates an 8" (203mm) full-size low-frequency woofer with a 3" (76mm) high-frequency tweeter coupled through a built-in crossover network, delivering wide 105-degree (at -6dB, 2kHz octave band) sound dispersion from a single ceiling opening. The woofer uses a 10 oz. (260g) ceramic magnet and the tweeter uses a 2.35 oz. (67g) ceramic magnet, providing an average sensitivity of 96dB (1W/1m). The nominal frequency response spans 45Hz to 19kHz, with the transformer extending usable response from 50Hz to 15kHz (+1dB). The 8-watt 70.7V transformer features audio-grade laminations, maximum insertion loss of 0.6dB, and four primary tap settings of 1, 2, 4, and 8 watts for precise 70V load management. The factory-installed 62-8 CRS baffle includes concealed speaker mounting studs and screw-mount hardware with a white powder-coat epoxy finish. Safety listings to UL1480 and UL2043 confirm the unit is appropriate for life safety signal and plenum applications. The product is individually packaged for efficient stocking and includes a 60-month warranty.
