Product Description

The FA138 employs a reinforced polypropylene cone woofer with a custom butyl rubber surround for long-term reliability in variable-humidity environments. The 1.5-inch vented Kapton voice coil handles 100 watts of continuous program material, while the 21-ounce ceramic magnet provides high magnetic flux for efficient conversion. High-frequency reproduction is handled by a 0.5-inch mylar-dome tweeter with ferrofluid cooling, which also contributes to weather resistance. An onboard circuit board-mounted crossover divides the signal between the woofer and tweeter for clean, balanced full-range output. Sensitivity is rated at 89.5dB average with a 93dB peak, and the 110-degree dispersion pattern provides broad coverage for high or vaulted ceiling installations. The FA138 front-loads into Atlas Strategy Series acoustically matched enclosures (FA97-8 at 0.22 ft³ with acoustic batting, or economy FA95-8 at 0.17 ft³), which install using rotating clamps without the need for a drill. Baffle options include push-on grilles with serrated studs for hardware-free attachment. For installations without enclosures, the FAPR-8 plaster ring provides a clean mounting solution in minimum-depth ceilings.
