Product Overview

The AtlasIED IP-SDM is a PoE+ indoor wall mount IP speaker with an integrated LCD display and talkback microphone, built for network-wide mass notification and paging over existing LAN/WAN infrastructure. Part of the AtlasIED IPX Series, it registers directly with InformaCast and Revolution notification platforms or as a SIP endpoint on a VoIP communications manager. The 8-inch coaxial driver and 15-watt integrated amplifier deliver the output needed to cut through high ambient noise in large spaces. For facilities standardizing on a single enterprise communications platform, the IP-SDM combines audio, visual text, and two-way intercom in one PoE-powered endpoint.

Product Description

The IP-SDM is engineered for commercial IP speaker installation where both audible and visual notification are required. Its scrolling LCD readout displays time synchronized via NTP while in standby, eliminating the need for a separate master clock system, and switches to scrolling text alerts when a notification is broadcast. This dual-mode operation supports ADA Title II effective communication requirements by presenting alerts both audibly and visually.

AtlasIED IP-SDM PoE+ indoor wall mount IP speaker with LCD display and talkback microphone

An omnidirectional electret condenser microphone mounted behind the 18-gauge powder-coated steel grille enables two-way intercom and room monitoring from any PC or phone handset, making the IP-SDM well suited for school intercom system upgrades and corporate emergency notification deployments. Auto-registration via SLP (Singlewire), DHCP Option 72 (Syn-Apps), or IEDNet+ simplifies VoIP paging system integration: the speaker provisions on the voice VLAN like a handset and inherits the same QoS policies. Two general purpose inputs and one relay output provide triggers for third-party systems such as door strikes, strobes, or panic buttons. Balanced auxiliary line-in and line-out connections allow the unit to feed or receive analog program audio. Flush, surface, and slanted wall enclosures are available separately, giving integrators flexibility across new construction and retrofit projects. Key Features

  • PoE+ Powered Endpoint — Operates from a single network drop at 12 W max on 802.3af or 25 W max on 802.3at, removing the need for local AC power.
  • LCD Display with NTP Clock — Shows synchronized time in standby and scrolling text alerts during notifications, replacing standalone master clock systems.
  • Talkback Microphone — Integrated electret condenser mic supports two-way intercom and room monitoring from any PC or phone handset.
  • InformaCast and SIP Registration — Registers as a native endpoint in InformaCast and Revolution, or directly to a SIP server where third-party notification software is not required.
  • High-Output 8-Inch Coaxial Driver — 98 dB SPL average sensitivity and 86 Hz–15.5 kHz response maintain voice intelligibility in noisy or large rooms.
  • Auto Registration on the Voice VLAN — SLP, DHCP Option 72, or IEDNet+ provisioning configures the speaker like a VoIP handset with shared QoS.
  • GPI/O for Third-Party Triggers — Two general purpose inputs and one 2 A relay output integrate alarm contacts and external devices.
  • Balanced Aux Line-In and Line-Out — Connects analog program sources or downstream amplifiers alongside network audio.
  • Durable Commercial Construction — 18-gauge powder-coated steel grille with a factory-assembled speaker and amp/control board.

Typical Applications

  • Government spaces requiring ADA-compliant audible and visual notification
  • Commercial meeting spaces and corporate facilities on enterprise VoIP platforms
  • Training rooms and multi-purpose rooms needing paging, bells, and intercom
  • Auditoriums and all-hands rooms with high ambient noise
  • Houses of worship with campus-wide announcement needs

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the IP-SDM work with InformaCast?

Yes. The IP-SDM registers as a native communication endpoint within Singlewire InformaCast and Syn-Apps Revolution, supporting audio broadcast and scrolling visual text for advanced alerting, bell schedules, and scheduled announcements.

Can it register directly to a SIP server without notification software?

Yes. Where third-party notification applications are not required, the IP-SDM registers as a SIP device directly to a SIP server or VoIP communications manager for paging, critical alerts, and two-way communication.

What mounting options are available?

AtlasIED offers separate enclosures for flush in-wall (IP-FEST-SD), surface on-wall (IP-SEST-SD), and slanted on-wall (IP-SEA-SD) installation. The speaker ships with all necessary mounting screws.

Does it require a separate power supply?

No. The IP-SDM is powered over Ethernet, drawing up to 12 W on 802.3af or 25 W on 802.3at PoE+. An external power supply option is available where PoE is not present.

How does the clock stay accurate?

The LCD display synchronizes time using NTP over the network, so every speaker on the system shows the same time without a separate master clock.

What warranty applies and who do I contact for support?

AtlasIED covers the IP-SDM with a 60-month warranty from date of purchase. Creation Networks supports your order pre- and post-sale, and our team can assist with system design and IPX Series firmware guidance.
