Product Overview

The AtlasIED AA400PHD is a 6-input, 400-watt commercial mixer amplifier built for distributed business paging, background music (BGM), medium to large speech privacy systems, and installations that combine music on hold (MOH) with paging. It drives 25V, 70.7V, or 4-ohm loudspeaker systems, covering the most common commercial audio system installation topologies from a single chassis. Its defining feature is the patent-pending Push Here Diagnostic (PHD) automatic system test, which verifies speaker line wiring and impedance before the system goes live.

Product Description

AtlasIED AA400PHD 6-input 400 watt mixer amplifier with automatic system test

The AA400PHD accepts four balanced mic/line/tel inputs with selectable phantom power plus two stereo (unbalanced summing) line inputs, accommodating paging microphones, media players, telephone interfaces, and digital music receivers in one rack-friendly unit. The PHD button runs an automated diagnostic across connected loudspeaker lines: it confirms the cumulative speaker tap settings do not exceed the amplifier's rated power, catches loudspeakers mistakenly tapped at 8 ohms, and checks the speaker wiring for shorts. For integrators commissioning a 70V paging system installation, that test replaces guesswork with a verified pass before handoff. A rear-panel DIP switch builds a Zone 2 output mix from any combination of inputs 1-4, and the amplifier can mute inputs 2-6 on signal from input 1 so announcements override background music automatically, with variable mute sensitivity on input 1 and contact closure mute terminals for hard-wired priority. Remote Input Selection and Remote Level Control work with the AtlasIED WPD-RISRL wall plate, giving end users source selection and volume control up to 200 feet from the amplifier rack. A line output and preamp input support external processors and amplifier expansion as the system grows. An optional AARMK2-0 rack mount kit adapts the chassis to standard equipment racks. Pair the AA400PHD with ceiling speakers and paging horns from the AtlasIED collection at Creation Networks for a complete business paging and background music system.

Key Features

  • 400W Output Across Common Loads — Delivers 400 watts into 25V, 70.7V, or 4-ohm loudspeaker systems for flexible distributed audio design.
  • Push Here Diagnostic (PHD) — One-button automated system test verifies speaker tap loading, flags 8-ohm tap errors, and detects shorted speaker lines before commissioning.
  • Six Mixed Inputs — Four balanced mic/line/tel inputs with phantom power plus two stereo line inputs handle paging mics, media players, and MOH sources.
  • Input Assignable Zone 2 Output — Rear-panel DIP switches create a second output mix from any or all of inputs 1-4.
  • Paging Priority Mute — Signal-sensed muting of inputs 2-6 from input 1, with variable sensitivity and contact closure mute terminals, ensures pages cut through music.
  • Remote Wall Plate Control — Remote Input Select and Remote Level Control via the WPD-RISRL wall plate operate up to 200 feet from the amplifier.
  • Expansion Ready — Line output and preamp input integrate external processors or additional amplifiers as zones are added.
  • Rack Mountable — Optional AARMK2-0 kit adapts the unit to standard 19" equipment racks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Push Here Diagnostic (PHD) test actually check?

After all loudspeakers are connected, pressing the PHD button automatically verifies that combined speaker tap settings do not exceed the amplifier's rated power, that no speaker is mistakenly tapped at 8 ohms, and that the speaker wiring is free from shorts.

Can the AA400PHD drive both 70V distributed speakers and low-impedance speakers?

Yes. It outputs 400 watts into 25V, 70.7V, or 4-ohm loudspeaker systems, so it works with distributed ceiling speaker lines, paging horns, and direct low-impedance loads.

How does paging priority work over background music?

The amplifier can mute inputs 2 through 6 when signal is detected on input 1, with a variable mute sensitivity control. Contact closure mute terminals are also provided for hard-wired priority triggering.

Can end users control volume and source without rack access?

Yes. The Remote Input Selection and Remote Level Control features work with the AtlasIED WPD-RISRL wall plate, installed up to 200 feet from the amplifier.

Does it mount in a standard equipment rack?

Yes, with the optional AtlasIED AARMK2-0 rack mount kit, sold separately.

What warranty and support apply?

AtlasIED warrants the AA400PHD for 36 months from date of purchase. Creation Networks can assist with speaker counts, tap planning, and zone design before you buy.
