Product Overview

The Atlas Sound AA-PPRC is a two-input by two-output speaker-level relay switcher designed to enable priority paging in commercial distributed audio systems. Installed between an amplifier's output and the speaker load, the AA-PPRC automatically switches speaker zones to a priority paging source when triggered — supporting 25V, 70.7V, 100V, and low-impedance systems with up to 350 watts per channel. Its flexible trigger options, including high-level audio, line-level audio, contact closure, and DC voltage, make it compatible with a broad range of paging controllers, intercoms, and emergency notification equipment.

Product Description

The AA-PPRC addresses the common commercial AV requirement for priority paging: when an announcement or emergency signal arrives, background music or other audio is interrupted and the priority source is routed to the speaker load. The unit handles up to 350 watts per channel at 70.7V, accommodating large distributed speaker zones in commercial facilities. Both high-level (speaker line) and line-level signals can trigger the relay control circuit, with adjustable threshold controls — speaker line threshold adjustable from 3V to 45V, and line level from 20mV to 2V. DC voltage triggers are accepted from 5V to 24V, and contact closure is also supported for integration with automation systems. A relay recover adjustment of 1 to 30 seconds controls how long after the priority signal ends before the system returns to normal program audio, preventing chatter during brief signal interruptions. Phoenix-type input/output connectors are used throughout for reliable field wiring. The compact black chassis measures 1.5" H x 4" W x 4.5" L (38.1mm x 101.6mm x 114.3mm). A 12VDC UL-listed power supply is included. The AA-PPRC's position in the signal chain is not critical — it can be placed at the amplifier output, at a zone distribution point, or at another convenient location in the speaker run.

Key Features

  • 350W Per Channel Capacity — Handles large 70.7V, 100V, 25V, or low-impedance speaker zone loads up to 350 watts per channel.
  • Multiple Trigger Modes — Accepts high-level audio (3V–45V), line-level audio (20mV–2V), contact closure, and DC voltage (5V–24V) triggers.
  • Adjustable Relay Recovery Time — 1–30 second recovery adjustment prevents relay chatter after brief priority signal interruptions.
  • System Voltage Compatibility — Works with 25V, 70.7V, 100V, and low-impedance distributed audio systems.
  • Phoenix-Type I/O Connectors — Industry-standard screw-terminal connectors for reliable field wiring.
  • Compact Form Factor — 1.5" H x 4" W x 4.5" L chassis mounts in tight equipment spaces.
  • 12VDC UL Power Supply Included — Ready to deploy out of the box with included UL-listed power supply.
  • Flexible Placement — Positioning in the signal chain is not critical; can be installed at the amplifier, zone distribution point, or speaker run.

Typical Applications

  • Background music and paging priority switching in retail, restaurant, and hospitality installations
  • Conference room and all-hands room priority announcement systems
  • House of worship with intercom-triggered paging override
  • Government and institutional facility emergency notification routing
  • Multi-purpose room and training room paging priority control
  • Commercial meeting space BGM-to-paging relay automation

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What systems is the AA-PPRC compatible with?

A: The AA-PPRC works with 25V, 70.7V, 100V, and low-impedance distributed speaker systems. It is placed between the amplifier output and the speaker load.

Q: How does the priority paging trigger work?

A: The AA-PPRC accepts four trigger types: high-level audio (3V–45V), line-level audio (20mV–2V), contact closure, and DC voltage (5V–24V). When a trigger is detected, the relay switches the speaker load to the priority source.

Q: What does the relay recovery adjustment do?

A: It controls the hold time after the priority signal ends before the relay returns to normal program audio, settable from 1 to 30 seconds. This prevents chatter during brief pauses in a paging signal.

Q: Does the AA-PPRC need to be installed at a specific location in the signal path?

A: Placement is not critical. It can be installed at the amplifier output, at a zone distribution point, or anywhere in the speaker run between the amplifier and speaker load.

Q: What is included in the package?

A: The package includes the AA-PPRC relay controller and a 12VDC UL-listed power supply.

Q: Can the AA-PPRC be triggered by a contact closure from an access control or intercom system?

A: Yes. Contact closure is one of the four supported trigger modes, making it compatible with door stations, intercoms, and building automation systems.
