The Atlas Sound 96-8 cylindrical protective enclosure is engineered for cost-efficient installation of 8-inch in-ceiling speakers in commercial AV, paging, and life safety systems. Its welded CRS construction with an internal patch-jute lining eliminates mechanical and acoustical resonances that can degrade audio quality. The internal plaster flange includes pre-drilled mounting holes positioned for easy, convenient ceiling installation without additional hardware complications. The 4.25-inch (10.80 cm) depth accommodates most standard 8-inch speaker-baffle assemblies, while the 11.875-inch (30.16 cm) diameter matches the cutout requirements for compatible Atlas Sound grilles. Safety listings under UL 1480 and UL 2043 allow deployment in air-handling spaces and fire-rated ceiling assemblies where code compliance is mandatory. Compatible baffles include the 51-8, 60-8(W), 61-8W, 62-8, 63-8, 67-8(W), 68-8W, 170-8, G22-8, M222(W), P900, VP-60R, U51-8, U61-8W, U62-8, UG22-8, and UM222W, giving integrators flexibility across a wide installed base.
