Product Overview
The Atlas Sound 310-12 is a 10RU stand-alone wall mount equipment cabinet from the AtlasIED 300 Series, designed to house network switches, audio amplifiers, and AV control gear where floor space is at a premium. Its 12" deep center section with adjustable EIA rack rails suits shallow rack mount equipment commonly found in conference room and classroom AV installations. A three-section welded steel design — solid front door, hinged center section, and rear door — gives technicians service access from both sides of the installed equipment. The cabinet's structural reinforcement and wire management provisions make it a dependable enclosure for long-term commercial AV deployments.
Product Description

Built from 16-gauge cold-rolled steel, the 310-12 comprises three welded sections: a 2" deep solid-steel front door, a 12" deep center section carrying the rack rails, and a 4-1/2" deep rear door. Adjustable front rack rails are tapped 10-32 at standard EIA 1/2" spacing, giving integrators flexible positioning for mixed-depth equipment during AV rack installation. Internal open raceways create dedicated cable pathways inside the enclosure, and corner brace supports on the hinge side include 1-1/4" diameter wire access holes for harnessing excess cable — practical details that keep structured cabling organized over the life of the system.
The rear section's back face includes 1/4" deep boss detents on 12" centers (four on this 10RU model), allowing contractors to field-install a custom plywood, aluminum, or steel sub-plate for mounting power strips and accessories inside the cabinet. Twenty conduit knockouts arranged across the back panel and top and bottom flanges accommodate conduit entry from multiple directions, combining 1" standard and 1/2"/3/4" concentric sizes. Perforated vents on both sides of the center section dissipate heat from rack-mounted electronics without fans. Structurally, the cabinet uses reinforced frame flanges, plug-welded center-section panels, electric-welded seams and miters, and an 11-gauge center section guide plate that transfers equipment weight to the rear section and prevents sagging whether the cabinet is open or closed. The guide plate also steers alignment pins into their holes so a fully loaded center section closes correctly every time. The enclosure is finished in #962 black epoxy, and an optional CT31A support caster is available to carry center-section weight during service.
Key Features
- 10RU Wall Mount Capacity — Houses a full complement of network and AV equipment off the floor, preserving usable space in equipment closets and meeting rooms.
- 12" Deep Center Section — Matched to shallow rack mount gear such as switches, DSPs, and half-depth amplifiers common in commercial AV systems.
- Adjustable 10-32 Rack Rails — EIA-standard 1/2" spacing with front-to-back adjustability accommodates varying equipment depths.
- Three-Section Service Access — Solid front door, hinged center section, and rear door allow technicians to reach equipment and cabling from both sides.
- Welded Steel Structure — 16-gauge cold-rolled steel with reinforced frame flanges, corner braces, and electric-welded seams keeps mounted equipment stable.
- Anti-Sag Guide Plate — An 11-gauge center section guide plate distributes equipment weight to the rear section and aligns the door for proper closure.
- Integrated Wire Management — Internal open raceways and 1-1/4" wire access holes keep cable runs organized and serviceable.
- 20 Conduit Knockouts — Standard and concentric knockouts on the back panel and flanges support flexible conduit routing.
- Passive Ventilation — Perforated side vents provide natural heat dissipation for installed electronics.
- Field-Customizable Back Pan — Boss detents on 12" centers accept contractor-installed plywood, aluminum, or steel sub-plates for accessory mounting.

Frequently Asked Questions
What equipment depth fits in the 310-12?
The center section provides 12" of mounting depth, which suits network switches, audio DSPs, control processors, and other shallow rack mount equipment. Deeper amplifiers may require the 15" deep 300 Series models or the WMA Series.
How is cabling routed into the cabinet?
Twenty conduit knockouts on the rear section's back panel and top and bottom flanges accept conduit entry, and internal open raceways plus 1-1/4" wire access holes manage cable inside the enclosure.
Does the cabinet require fans?
Perforated vents on both sides of the center section provide natural heat dissipation for typical AV and network loads. Evaluate active cooling separately if you are installing high-heat amplifier stacks.
Can accessories be mounted inside the rear section?
Yes. Boss detents on 12" centers let contractors install a custom plywood, aluminum, or steel sub-plate for power distribution and accessory mounting.
Will a fully loaded center section sag over time?
The 11-gauge guide plate transfers cabinet and equipment weight to the rear section and supports the center section open or closed; the optional CT31A caster adds further support during service.
What warranty covers the 310-12?
AtlasIED warrants the cabinet for 60 months from the date of purchase, and Creation Networks supports your order before and after delivery.
