Product Overview
The Ashly PEMA 8250 is an 8-channel, 250W-per-channel Protea-Equipped Media Amplifier configured for low-impedance (4 ohm) speaker systems, integrating an 8x8 matrix mixer, full Protea DSP audio processor, and Class-D amplifier in a single rack-mount unit for commercial AV installation. Designed to replace an entire rack of separate mixer, DSP, and amplifier components, the PEMA 8250 delivers 2000W total output with advanced features including gain-sharing automatic microphone mixing, automatic feedback suppression, ambient noise compensation, and event scheduling. Both Dante and CobraNet network audio option cards are fully supported, making this a flexible platform for network-enabled amplifier deployments on either AoIP standard. Eight built-in microphone preamps, a dedicated telephone/PBX input, and 10/100 Ethernet control make the PEMA 8250 a self-contained audio system for boardrooms, training rooms, and multi-purpose commercial spaces.
Product Description
The PEMA 8250 is the low-impedance variant of Ashly's 8-channel 250W PEMA series, designed for direct-drive speaker systems in commercial installations where low-impedance connections to individual or small-cluster loudspeakers are required. The 8-in x 8-out matrix mixer provides complete routing flexibility, allowing any input to be assigned to any output, and the full Protea DSP suite delivers FIR filter capability, EQ, dynamics, crossover, delay, and metering on every channel. Eight built-in microphone preamps with 15V phantom power support direct condenser and dynamic microphone connections for paging, conferencing, and presentation applications. The dedicated telephone and PBX input provides phone system paging integration without additional interface hardware. Gain-sharing automatic microphone mixing manages multiple open microphone channels, and the automatic feedback suppressor protects against audio feedback and reduces commissioning time. Ambient noise compensation automatically adjusts output levels to maintain consistent perceived loudness in spaces with variable background noise levels. A real-time clock with event scheduler enables automated operation including scheduled preset changes, standby activation, and power management. The Class-D amplifier with switching power supply operates at over 80% efficiency, reducing thermal load in equipment rooms. Dante and CobraNet option cards are both supported, providing flexibility for facilities that use either AoIP protocol. Safety certifications include TUV, CE, FCC, and RoHS.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the PEMA 8250 a 70V amplifier?
- No. The PEMA 8250 is configured for low-impedance (4 ohm) speaker loads. For 70V constant-voltage distributed audio, the PEMA 8250.70 is the appropriate model.
- Does the PEMA 8250 include a Dante or CobraNet card?
- The base PEMA 8250 does not include a network audio option card. Dante and CobraNet option cards are available separately. If you need a unit with a Dante card pre-installed, consider the PEMA 8250D variant.
- Does the PEMA 8250 require an external DSP processor?
- No. The integrated Protea DSP suite provides complete signal processing on all inputs and outputs, including FIR filtering, EQ, dynamics, crossover, and delay.
- How many microphone inputs does the PEMA 8250 support?
- The PEMA 8250 has 8 built-in microphone preamps, all with 15V phantom power for condenser microphones.
- Can the PEMA 8250 handle telephone system paging?
- Yes. A dedicated telephone/PBX input is included for direct integration with phone systems, supporting ducked paging announcements over background audio.
- What is the rack size of the PEMA 8250?
- The PEMA 8250 occupies 2U of standard 19" rack space.
