AMX DXF-TX-MMD – DXLink Multimode Fiber Transmitter (Duplex)
Product Overview
The AMX DXF-TX-MMD is a multi-format DXLink multimode fiber transmitter with duplex connectivity for bidirectional AV and control signal distribution over OM3 50/125 µm multimode fiber at distances up to 300 m. Supporting HDMI/HDCP and analog multi-format video (RGBHV, Component, S-Video, Composite) alongside full audio, the duplex design enables bidirectional control signal transport — including Ethernet, RS-232, IR, and USB HID — over fiber without a separate control cable return path. Ideal for intra-building AV distribution in commercial facilities with existing multimode fiber infrastructure, the DXF-TX-MMD integrates with Enova DGX matrix switchers and DXLink fiber receivers for scalable centralized AV architectures.
Product Description
The AMX DXF-TX-MMD (FG1010-362) accepts HDMI/HDCP input with InstaGate Pro Technology and multi-format analog video via HD-15 (RGBHV, RGBs, RGsB, YPbPr, S-Video, Composite), along with analog stereo and S/PDIF digital audio, and transmits over OM3 50/125 µm multimode duplex fiber via LC Duplex connectors at distances up to 300 m (984 ft.). Duplex fiber enables bidirectional control transport, allowing control signals to return to the matrix switcher or control system over the same fiber run used for AV signal distribution. Audio support covers Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, Dolby Digital, DTS, and 2–8 CH L-PCM. A front-panel non-scaling HDMI loopback output provides local display access for installation verification, and USB HID extension is supported for USB control device pass-through.
Key Features
- Duplex Fiber — Bidirectional Control: Multimode duplex fiber enables bidirectional AV and control transport over the same fiber run — no separate control return cable required.
- OM3 Multimode Fiber up to 300 m: 50/125 µm OM3 fiber with LC Duplex connectors for intra-building runs in commercial multimode fiber infrastructure.
- Multi-Format Video Input: HDMI/HDCP and analog multi-format (RGBHV, Component, S-Video, Composite) for mixed source compatibility.
- HDCP InstaGate Pro: Uninterrupted HDMI/HDCP with support for up to 16 sinks per output in Enova DGX.
- Full Audio Support: Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, Dolby Digital, DTS, 2–8 CH L-PCM.
- USB HID Extension: USB Mini A/B for USB control device extension over fiber.
- Local HDMI Loopback: Front-panel non-scaling HDMI output for local display verification.
Typical Applications
- Conference Room: Intra-building multi-format source distribution to a central Enova DGX switcher over existing multimode fiber infrastructure.
- Broadcast Studios: Multimode fiber source input within a broadcast facility for local-distance routing.
- Enterprise AV Infrastructure: Intra-building AV source distribution over multimode fiber with full control return path.
- Government Space: Secure AV distribution within a government building using existing OM3 multimode fiber.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between MMD and MMS models?
- MMD (Duplex) uses duplex multimode fiber for bidirectional transport — AV signal in one direction, control return in the other — with no separate control cable needed. MMS (Simplex) is one-directional and does not carry control signals over fiber.
- What is the maximum distance for multimode fiber?
- OM3 50/125 µm multimode fiber supports runs up to 300 m (984 ft.). For longer distances, specify the single-mode DXF-TX-SMD, which supports up to 10 km.
