Product Overview
The Allied Telesis AT-X950-52XSQ is a high-density 52-port stackable Layer 3+ switch delivering 10 Gigabit access density combined with native 40G and 100G uplink connectivity. Designed for enterprise network core and distribution deployments, the X950-52XSQ features a 1.92 Tbps switching fabric that eliminates congestion in large-scale converged network environments. With 48 x 1/10GbE SFP+ ports, 4 x 40G/100G QSFP28 uplink ports, and VCStack virtual chassis stacking, this switch provides the port density and resilience required for Smart City, IoT aggregation, and high-availability campus network core applications.
Product Description
The X950 Series represents Allied Telesis's top-tier fixed-configuration stackable switch platform. The AT-X950-52XSQ provides 48 SFP+ ports operating at 1G or 10G, plus 4 built-in QSFP28 ports capable of 40G or 100G operation — the latter supporting direct 100GbE backbone connectivity to data center core switches or spine layer devices without additional transceivers or breakout cables.
The 1.92 Terabit non-blocking switching fabric ensures that all 52 ports operate at full line rate simultaneously with no internal oversubscription. This capacity is critical for deployments aggregating large numbers of 10G server connections, high-throughput video surveillance systems, or high-density wireless access point uplinks in campus environments.
The X950-52XSQ supports VCStack, Allied Telesis’s virtual chassis stacking technology, which presents multiple physical switches as a single logical device. VCStack enables cross-unit link aggregation, allowing bonded port channels to span multiple physical units — providing both bandwidth multiplication and hardware-level redundancy without spanning-tree blocking. The stack can be managed through a single IP address and a unified configuration file.
Network-wide automation is delivered by the Allied Telesis Autonomous Management Framework (AMF). AMF’s zero-touch node recovery automatically restores a failed or replaced switch to its last known configuration without manual intervention — a significant operational advantage in distributed campus and multi-site enterprise deployments. AMF Guestnode extends visibility to third-party devices such as IP cameras, VoIP phones, and IoT endpoints directly within the AMF topology.
An onboard expansion bay provides additional interface flexibility without requiring a chassis replacement, allowing incremental capacity additions as network demands grow. Power consumption is rated at 266.10W, making the X950-52XSQ suitable for standard enterprise rack deployments without requiring special power circuits. Frequently Asked Questions
- How many units can be stacked with VCStack on the X950-52XSQ?
- VCStack supports stacking multiple X950 units into a single logical switch. Cross-unit link aggregation is supported across all stacked members. Contact Creation Networks for the maximum supported stack size in your specific deployment scenario.
- Can the 40G/100G ports operate in 40G mode for legacy connectivity?
- Yes. All 4 QSFP28 uplink ports support both 40GbE and 100GbE operation, selectable per-port. This allows backward compatibility with existing 40G infrastructure while providing a clear migration path to 100G.
- What transceivers are compatible with the AT-X950-52XSQ?
- The X950-52XSQ accepts Allied Telesis SFP+ modules (SP10 series) and QSFP28 modules in the uplink ports. MSA-compliant third-party transceivers may also be compatible. Creation Networks carries a full range of Allied Telesis transceivers for this platform.
- Does the X950-52XSQ support AMF zero-touch recovery?
- Yes. When operating within an AMF domain, a failed or replaced X950-52XSQ unit automatically downloads its configuration from the AMF master and resumes operation without requiring manual CLI intervention at the physical switch.
- What routing protocols does the X950-52XSQ support?
- The X950-52XSQ supports Layer 3+ routing including static routes, OSPFv2, OSPFv3, BGP4, RIPv2, and policy-based routing for both IPv4 and IPv6 address families.
- Is the AT-X950-52XSQ suitable for IoT and Smart City deployments?
- Yes. The 1.92 Tbps fabric capacity, AMF network automation, and AMF Guestnode support for third-party device onboarding make the X950-52XSQ well-suited for IoT aggregation, smart city infrastructure, and converged surveillance and wireless deployments.
- What support and warranty are included?
