Product Overview

The Allied Telesis AT-X530-28GTXM-10 is a high-performance Allied Telesis x530 multi-rate Layer 3 stackable switch engineered for enterprise campus access and distribution deployments. It provides 24 x 10/100/1000T RJ-45 ports and 4 x 1G/2.5G/5G multi-rate copper ports alongside 4 x 10G SFP+ uplinks, making it well suited for organizations migrating from Gigabit to multi-gigabit campus switching infrastructure. The hardware-only -10 SKU gives procurement teams the flexibility to attach their own service contract. Available from Creation Networks, an authorized Allied Telesis reseller.

Product Description

Allied Telesis AT-X530-28GTXM-10

The AT-X530-28GTXM-10 is the hardware-only variant of the x530-28GTXm, delivering the full port configuration without a bundled service contract. The 24 standard Gigabit RJ-45 ports handle high-density end-user device connectivity while the four 1G/2.5G/5G multi-rate copper ports automatically negotiate to the highest supported speed on the connected link — enabling direct connection of Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E access points over Cat5e and Cat6 cabling respectively. The four 10G SFP+ ports provide high-bandwidth uplinks to distribution or core switching layers, and can alternatively be used as VCStack stacking ports. AlliedWare Plus delivers full Layer 3 routing, including static routes and RIP, with optional OSPFv2, BGP4, and PIM available via a premium feature license. VCStack technology stacks up to 8 x530-series units into a single logical switch, reducing management overhead across wiring closets. AMF Plus enables zero-touch provisioning, automated configuration backup, and plug-and-play node recovery across the entire AMF domain. EPSRing and G.8032 ERPS deliver sub-50ms protection switching for ring-based campus backbone designs. The switch draws a maximum of 55W and is housed in a 1U rack-mountable chassis compatible with standard 19-inch racks.

Key Features

  • 24 x 10/100/1000T ports — High-density Gigabit copper access ports for workstations, IP phones, and IoT devices.
  • 4 x 1G/2.5G/5G multi-rate copper ports — Auto-negotiating multi-gigabit ports for Wi-Fi 6 AP aggregation over Cat5e/Cat6 cabling.
  • 4 x 10G SFP+ ports — Flexible 10G fiber or DAC uplinks; dual-use as VCStack stacking interfaces.
  • VCStack up to 8 units — Logical single-switch management for up to 8 stacked units, local or long-distance.
  • AlliedWare Plus OS — Enterprise feature set with industry-standard CLI; consistent across all AW+ platforms.
  • Layer 3 routing — Static, RIP, and optional OSPF/BGP via premium license; IPv4 and IPv6 support.
  • AMF Plus — Autonomous Management Framework for zero-touch provisioning and centralized management.
  • EPSRing and G.8032 ERPS — Fast-failover resilient ring protection for campus backbone topologies.
  • Active Fiber Monitoring (AFM) — Monitors fiber links to detect unauthorized physical interception attempts.
  • Hardware-only SKU (-10) — No bundled service contract; allows flexible attachment of NCP or NBD support agreements.
  • 55W max power consumption — Dual hot-swap power supplies for load sharing and redundancy.
  • 1U rack-mountable — Fits standard 19-inch rack enclosures; 17.4" W x 12.7" D x 1.7" H.

Typical Applications

  • Enterprise campus access-layer wiring closets
  • Multi-gigabit aggregation for Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E access point deployments
  • Stackable distribution layer reducing switch management overhead
  • Campus backbone with resilient ring protection via EPSRing
  • Phased migration from 1G to 2.5G/5G edge switching without recabling

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between this model and the AT-X530-28GTXM-B11?
The AT-X530-28GTXM-10 is the hardware-only unit. The B11 variant bundles a 1-Year NetCover Plus (NCP) service contract covering advance hardware replacement and software support. Both use identical hardware.
Q: How many switches can be stacked with VCStack?
Up to 8 x530-series units can be stacked using VCStack, presenting all units as a single managed device. Stacking works locally or over distance using fiber uplinks.
Q: Do the 4 multi-rate ports require new cabling?
No. The 1G/2.5G/5G multi-rate ports negotiate 2.5GbE over Cat5e cabling and 5GbE over Cat6, allowing Wi-Fi 6 AP upgrades without replacing existing cable plant infrastructure.
Q: What SFP+ transceivers are supported in the uplink ports?
The four SFP+ slots accept Allied Telesis 10G SFP+ transceivers (SR, LR, ER) and compatible DAC cables. Refer to Allied Telesis compatibility documentation for approved third-party options.
Q: Can the x530-28GTXm be mixed in a stack with x530L switches?
Yes, mixed stacking of x530 and x530L units is supported with the AT-FL-x53L-MSTK mixed stacking license applied to the x530L switch.
Q: What Layer 3 routing protocols are supported?
AlliedWare Plus includes static routing and RIP out of the box. OSPFv2, BGP4, and PIM multicast routing require the AT-FL-x530-01 premium feature license.
Q: Where can I purchase the AT-X530-28GTXM-10?
The AT-X530-28GTXM-10 is available from Creation Networks, an authorized Allied Telesis reseller. Visit creationnetworks.net for pricing and availability.
