Overview

The Allied Telesis AT-SPFXBD-LC-15 is a 100BASE-FX bidirectional (BiDi) SFP transceiver designed for Fast Ethernet deployments over a single strand of single-mode fiber. It operates at 1310 nm for transmit and 1550 nm for receive, enabling full-duplex communication on one fiber rather than two. Description

Single-fiber BiDi technology is particularly valuable in environments where fiber conduit fill is constrained or where additional fiber runs are cost-prohibitive. The AT-SPFXBD-LC-15 uses wavelength-division multiplexing on a single LC-connected fiber strand, transmitting at 1310 nm and receiving at 1550 nm. This approach effectively doubles the usable capacity of an existing single-mode fiber plant without any physical recabling.

The transceiver supports 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet at distances up to 5 km, making it well suited for connecting remote closets, surveillance aggregation points, or branch office uplinks back to a central distribution switch.
