Overview

The Allied Telesis AT-SP10SR is a 10GBASE-SR SFP+ transceiver designed for short-reach 10 Gigabit Ethernet links over OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber. It operates at 850 nm and supports distances up to 300 m on OM3 fiber, covering the majority of intra-data-center and enterprise campus 10GbE interconnects. The transceiver is hot-swappable and compliant with IEEE 802.3ae, the defining standard for 10 Gigabit Ethernet. It is a standard commercial variant suitable for data centers, enterprise core and aggregation layers, and server-to-switch connectivity.

Description

10GBASE-SR is the dominant 10GbE optic standard for data center use due to its cost-effective 850 nm VCSEL technology and compatibility with widely deployed OM3 and OM4 multimode fiber. The AT-SP10SR delivers 10 Gbps full-duplex throughput over LC-connected multimode fiber, with a maximum reach of 300 m on OM3, which covers virtually all top-of-rack to end-of-row, end-of-row to aggregation, and aggregation to core distances within a single data center building.

The SFP+ form factor is the standard 10GbE transceiver cage format across Allied Telesis switches, routers, and server adapters. Hot-swap capability allows transceivers to be inserted or removed while the host device is powered, reducing maintenance windows and avoiding unnecessary reboots in production environments.

IEEE 802.3ae compliance ensures interoperability with equipment from other vendors that implement the same standard, important in multi-vendor networks where uplink compatibility across switch generations is required. The AT-SP10SR is the non-TAA commercial variant; for US government procurement requiring TAA compliance, a TAA-designated variant should be specified at the time of ordering.
