Product Overview
The Allied Telesis AT-GS920/8-10 is an 8-port Gigabit unmanaged switch with a built-in internal power supply and front-panel DIP switches for tool-free port configuration. It is part of the GS920 DIP Smart series — designed for desktop and small network environments where ease of setup and Gigabit performance are required without web or CLI management overhead. The internal PSU delivers a clean, self-contained installation ideal for desktop or rack environments.
Product Description

The GS920/8 delivers full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet on all 8 ports, making it ideal for bandwidth-intensive applications including HD video, large file transfers, and graphics workstation connectivity. Unlike a standard unmanaged switch, the GS920 series features physical DIP switches on the front panel that allow per-port Speed/Duplex configuration, Loop Detection activation, and Flooding mode — all without requiring a PC or management software. This makes it a practical choice for IT staff or AV/automation integrators who need minimal setup but occasional port-level control. The internal AC power supply is included and terminated with a US power cord, keeping the installation tidy and eliminating the separate adapter bricks required by external-PSU models. IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) reduces power consumption during periods of low traffic. Loop Detection automatically identifies and disables ports involved in network loops, and automatically restores them once the loop is resolved. Available in desktop, wall-mount, and rack-mountable form factors, the GS920/8 adapts to wiring closets, conference rooms, and workgroup deployments.
Key Features
- 8 x 10/100/1000Base-T Gigabit Ports — Full-duplex Gigabit on all ports for high-bandwidth workgroup connectivity.
- Internal Power Supply (US Cord Included) — Self-contained AC PSU — no separate power adapter needed, unlike external-PSU models.
- Front-Panel DIP Switches — Configure Speed/Duplex, Loop Detection, and Flooding mode without a PC or management interface.
- Loop Detection (Loop Guard) — Automatically detects and disables looped ports; auto-recovers when the loop is resolved.
- IEEE 802.3az EEE — Energy Efficient Ethernet reduces power draw during low-traffic periods.
- EAPOL/BPDU Forwarding — Passes 802.1X and Spanning Tree frames for compatibility with upstream managed infrastructure.
- Flexible Mounting — Supports desktop, wall-mount, and rack-mount installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: How does the GS920/8 differ from the GS910/8E?
- The GS920/8-10 uses an internal AC power supply and includes a US power cord, giving it a self-contained form factor. The AT-GS910/8E-10 uses an external AC adapter. The GS920 also adds front-panel DIP switches for port-level Speed/Duplex, Loop Detection, and Flooding mode configuration. Both are unmanaged Gigabit switches.
- Q: Can I configure individual port speeds on the GS920/8?
- Yes. The front-panel DIP switches allow per-port Speed/Duplex configuration, which is useful for legacy devices that do not support auto-negotiation.
- Q: What happens when a loop is detected?
- The GS920/8 automatically shuts down the port involved in the loop. Once the loop condition is resolved, the port is automatically restored to active use — no manual intervention required.
