Allen & Heath Qu-32C – 38-Input Digital Mixing Console, Chrome Edition

The Allen & Heath Qu-32C is a 38-input / 28-output digital mixing console in the Chrome Edition finish, combining 32 recallable AnalogiQ mic preamps, 33 motorized faders, a 7-inch color touchscreen, and a 5-core ARM processing engine in a single surface format. Designed for live sound reinforcement, installed AV, and recording applications, the Qu-32C serves as both a full-featured FOH and monitor console and a 32x32 USB audio interface. Chrome-finish rotary knobs and fader caps deliver high-contrast visual differentiation under stage lighting, while firmware V1.8 and later introduce additional workflow enhancements over the standard Qu-32.

Product Description

The Qu-32C provides 32 mono AnalogiQ mic/line inputs via XLR with four additional stereo auxiliary inputs (two TRS pairs) and a 3.5 mm stereo input for playback sources. A dedicated XLR talkback input and integrated talkback routing complete the input complement. Each input channel features a 4-band parametric EQ, high-pass filter, gate, compressor, and channel delay — all accessible from the 7-inch capacitive touchscreen or from dedicated physical controls on the surface.

Output routing is extensive: 10 XLR mix buses for monitor sends or subwoofer/delay fills, 2 XLR main LR outputs, 4 XLR subgroup outputs, 4 XLR matrix outputs, and 4 balanced TRS auxiliary outputs. An AES3 XLR digital output provides a clean digital feed for recording or broadcast interfaces. The dSNAKE etherCON port connects to Allen & Heath AR Series stage racks for remote preamp control and I/O extension without additional infrastructure.

The 33 motorized 100 mm faders recall complete mix snapshots across the scene memory, support Sends on Faders workflow for monitor engineering, and automate level changes for multi-act events. The built-in Wi-Fi enables wireless mixing from an iPad running the Qu-Pad app, making it practical for engineers to walk the room during soundcheck. Four stereo FX engines handle reverb, delay, gated reverb, ADT, chorus, phaser, and flanger processing internally, with dedicated FX return channels.

USB-B streaming sends 32x32 channels to a Mac or Windows DAW for live multitrack recording or virtual soundcheck. The USB-A port records directly to a flash drive. The Qu-32C is fully compatible with the ME personal monitoring system via the connected stage rack's dSNAKE port, enabling performer-controlled in-ear monitoring without an additional distribution system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Qu-32 and the Qu-32C?
The Qu-32C (Chrome Edition) features chrome-finish rotary knobs and fader caps for better visibility under stage lighting. It also includes updated firmware (V1.8+) with additional workflow enhancements. Audio performance and I/O specifications are identical to the standard Qu-32.
Does the Qu-32C require an external stage rack?
No. The Qu-32C has 32 local XLR mic/line inputs and outputs on the rear panel. A stage rack is optional and adds remote I/O capability for larger stages. This listing includes only the console; the stage rack kit is sold separately.
Can the Qu-32C record multitrack audio directly?
Yes. The USB-B port streams 32x32 channels to a Mac or Windows DAW. The USB-A port records stereo or multitrack audio directly to a USB flash drive using the built-in Qu-Drive recording feature.
How many scene memories does the Qu-32C support?
The Qu-32C stores up to 100 full scenes in its memory, each capturing the complete mix state including all preamp settings, channel processing, routing, and FX parameters.
Is a wireless router required for the Qu-Pad app?
No. The Qu-32C has built-in Wi-Fi. The iPad connects directly to the console's Wi-Fi network without an external access point, though a router can be used for longer range in large venues.
What stage racks are compatible with the Qu-32C?
The Qu-32C is compatible with Allen & Heath AR2412 (24-input/12-output) and AR84 (8-input/4-output) stage racks via the dSNAKE etherCON port. The ME personal mixing system can be connected through the stage rack's secondary dSNAKE port.
Is the Qu-32C suitable for installation in a house of worship?
Yes. Scene recall, motorized faders, and a 7-inch touchscreen make the Qu-32C operable by volunteer operators with minimal training. Remote mixing via iPad and recallable preamp settings reduce per-event setup time significantly.
