Allen & Heath AH-M-DL-AIN-A – DX32 8-Channel Analog Mic/Line Input Module
Product Overview
The Allen & Heath AH-M-DL-AIN-A is an 8-channel analog mic/line input module for the DX32 Expansion Chassis, adding eight recallable preamp channels to a dLive system. Each channel provides a balanced XLR input accepting microphone or line-level signals, with gain, pad, and 48V phantom power all controlled digitally from the dLive surface. For dLive commercial AV deployments where additional analog input capacity is needed at a stage box or equipment rack, this module is the standard method of expanding the system's microphone and line input count in a DX32 chassis.
Product Description
The DX32 chassis supports a range of module types across its 32 slots, and the M-DL-AIN-A is the primary module for adding analog microphone and line inputs to the system. Eight XLR female connectors on the module's faceplate accept balanced or unbalanced microphone and line-level signals.
All preamp parameters — gain level, pad engagement, and 48V phantom power activation — are managed digitally from the dLive mixing surface or via the dLive Director software. This eliminates the need for physical access to the module once it is installed and cabled, which is a significant advantage in installations where the DX32 chassis is mounted in a remote rack or under-stage equipment bay.
The recallable preamp design means that gain and pad settings are stored in scene memory on the dLive system. During multi-event venues or theatrical productions where different acts or shows use different input configurations, the preamp settings can be recalled instantly as part of a scene change without requiring manual adjustment at the module.
The module connects internally to the DX32 chassis via a multipin connector, requiring no additional wiring between the module and the chassis backplane. The dLive MixRack automatically detects and assigns the module's channels when it is seated in a slot. Multiple M-DL-AIN-A modules can be installed in the same DX32 chassis to build up a high-density analog input complement, mixed with output modules and digital I/O modules as the installation requires.
This module is compatible with all dLive system configurations that use a DX32 expansion chassis, including C Class, S Class, and System Rack MixRacks.
Key Features
- 8 Recallable Analog Preamps — Gain, pad, and 48V phantom are scene-recallable from the dLive surface, enabling fast show changes without physical access to the module.
- Balanced XLR Inputs — Eight XLR female connectors accept balanced or unbalanced mic and line-level signals.
- Digital Gain, Pad, and Phantom Control — All preamp parameters are set remotely via the dLive mixing surface or Director software.
- DX32 Module Format — Seats directly into DX32 chassis slots; connects via internal multipin connector with no additional chassis wiring.
- Automatic Detection — Recognized automatically by the dLive MixRack when installed.
- Compatible with All dLive Systems — Works with dLive C Class, S Class, and System Rack configurations using DX32.
- Supports Mixed Module Configurations — Multiple M-DL-AIN-A modules can be combined with output and digital I/O modules in the same DX32 chassis.
Typical Applications
- dLive Commercial AV Deployment — Adding analog mic/line input capacity to a DX32 stage box or rack in theaters, houses of worship, convention centers, or corporate AV installations.
- Live Sound System Expansion — Increasing the total analog input count of a dLive system for festivals, touring rigs, or large venue installations.
- Broadcast Integration — Providing additional analog inputs at a broadcast position fed by a DX32 chassis connected to a dLive MixRack.
- Multi-Event Venues — Using recallable preamp settings to manage different input configurations for different events in the same venue.

FAQ
- Which chassis does the M-DL-AIN-A fit?
- This module is designed for the Allen & Heath DX32 Expansion Chassis. It is not compatible with the DX168 or other Allen & Heath stage boxes.
- Can phantom power be switched per channel or only globally?
- Phantom power is controlled digitally on a per-channel basis from the dLive surface, allowing individual channels to have +48V applied or removed independently.
- Are the preamp gain settings saved between shows?
- Yes. Gain, pad, and phantom settings are stored as part of dLive scene memory and can be recalled instantly, which is particularly useful in multi-event venues or theatrical productions.
- How many M-DL-AIN-A modules can be installed in one DX32 chassis?
- The DX32 has 32 module slots. The number of M-DL-AIN-A modules that can be installed depends on how the remaining slots are allocated to other module types. In a fully populated chassis of AIN-A modules, you would have a maximum of 32 slots divided among module types as needed.
- Does the module accept both microphone and line-level signals?
- Yes. The XLR inputs accept both balanced microphone-level and balanced/unbalanced line-level signals. Gain and pad settings allow the preamp to be optimized for either signal type.
- Is this module compatible with the dLive S Class and C Class?
- Yes, the M-DL-AIN-A works with any dLive system configuration that uses a DX32 expansion chassis, including C Class, S Class, and System Rack.
- What warranty is included?
- Allen & Heath option cards carry the manufacturer's standard limited warranty. Contact Creation Networks for support and warranty registration.
