What is the Allen & Heath IP-4W wallplate controller?
The Allen & Heath IP-4W is an IP4 four-button wallplate remote controller for Allen & Heath AHM audio matrix systems. It gives staff and guests a simple, illuminated four-button panel for zone source selection, level steps, mutes and preset recall, powered over the network cable by PoE. It suits hospitality venues, meeting rooms, divisible spaces and campus sound systems where users need control without touching the processor.
How does the Allen & Heath IP-4W work?
The IP4 connects to an AHM processor over a single Cat5 cable using standard TCP/IP, either directly or through an Ethernet switch, so several controllers can serve different zones of one system. It draws power from 802.3af or 802.3at PoE and consumes no more than 2.5 W.
Functions are assigned in AHM System Manager on PC or Mac: each illuminated button can recall a preset, mute a zone, step a level or choose a music source, with button lighting showing status. Controllers can change the behaviour of other controllers, which helps when room-combine presets reconfigure a space. Firmware is matched automatically with connected devices for easier commissioning.
The IP4 is available in a US form factor for standard single-gang boxes (NEMA WD-6, minimum 25 mm depth) with Leviton Decora style faceplates, and an EU/UK form factor for MK Elements faceplates. Faceplates are ordered separately.
