Product Overview

The Allen & Heath DX Hub is a remote audio-networking hub designed to expand the I/O capacity of SQ digital mixers and dLive systems equipped with a gigaACE I/O option card. It provides four DX Link ports, each carrying 32x32 channels of 96 kHz audio, enabling the connection of multiple DX expander units — DX32, DX168, or DX164-W — and delivering up to 128 remote inputs and 64 remote outputs to a single system. For commercial AV, touring, and multi-rack live sound applications where significant remote I/O expansion is required, the DX Hub is the primary distribution point for structuring a dLive or SQ I/O network efficiently over Cat 5e infrastructure.

Product Description

Allen & Heath DX Hub remote audio networking hub for dLive and SQ systems — 4 DX Link ports, 96kHz, 128 remote inputs

Each of the four DX Link ports on the DX Hub supports the connection of one DX32 expander unit or up to two DX168/DX164-W units, providing a high degree of flexibility in how remote I/O is distributed across a venue or stage. Cat 5e runs to each DX Link port can extend up to 328 feet (100 meters), and Neutrik EtherCON locking connectors on all ports ensure secure connections in demanding live event environments. The hub draws only 5 watts from a universal 100–240 VAC power supply, minimizing power budget requirements in rack builds.

In dLive systems, multiple DX Hub units can be deployed simultaneously for further expansion or to establish dual-redundancy in the audio network — a critical capability for high-stakes live events and broadcast applications where a single point of failure cannot be tolerated. For commercial AV installations requiring a scalable, long-run remote I/O infrastructure around dLive or SQ, the DX Hub provides the network architecture that makes large-format system design practical without resorting to lengthy individual analog cable runs.

Key Features

  • 4x DX Link Ports at 32x32 Channels Each — Up to 128 remote inputs and 64 remote outputs through a single hub unit
  • Compatible with SQ and dLive Systems — Requires gigaACE I/O option card on SQ; natively supported on dLive systems
  • Supports DX32, DX168, and DX164-W Expanders — One DX32 or up to two DX168/DX164-W units per DX Link port
  • Cat 5e Runs up to 328 Feet — Long-distance remote I/O without performance compromise
  • Neutrik EtherCON Locking Connectors — All DX Link ports use locking connectors to prevent accidental disconnection during live events
  • Multi-Hub Capability for dLive — Multiple DX Hub units can be used for further expansion or dual-redundancy network topology
  • 5W Power Consumption — Low power draw suits compact rack builds and power-managed installations
  • Universal AC Input — 100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz input for worldwide deployment

Typical Applications

  • dLive system I/O expansion for large-format live events and festivals
  • Commercial AV multi-rack audio system infrastructure
  • SQ system remote I/O distribution with gigaACE option card
  • Dual-redundancy audio networking for broadcast and high-stakes live events
  • Multi-stage and multi-room venue audio network architecture
  • Permanent installation systems requiring structured remote I/O distribution

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the DX Hub work with SQ mixers without additional hardware?
No. For SQ mixers, the DX Hub requires the installation of Allen & Heath’s gigaACE I/O option card in the SQ mixer. dLive systems support the DX Hub natively without an additional card.
How many expander units can be connected through a single DX Hub?
Each of the four DX Link ports supports one DX32 or up to two DX168/DX164-W units. This allows up to four DX32 units or up to eight smaller DX units through a single DX Hub, depending on configuration.
Can multiple DX Hub units be used in the same dLive system?
Yes. In dLive systems, multiple DX Hub units can be used simultaneously for further I/O expansion or for dual-redundancy network configurations. This is not currently supported in the same way on SQ systems.
What is the maximum cable run from the DX Hub to an expander unit?
Each DX Link port supports Cat 5e cable runs of up to 328 feet (100 meters) to the connected expander unit.
What type of connectors does the DX Hub use?
All DX Link ports use Neutrik EtherCON locking RJ45 connectors to prevent accidental disconnection in live event environments.
Is the DX Hub rack-mountable?
The DX Hub is a half-rack-width unit. An optional Allen & Heath rackmount kit is available to mount the DX Hub in a standard 19-inch rack, typically paired with another half-rack unit.
