Allen & Heath Avantis – 96kHz Standalone 64-Channel Digital Mixer

The Allen & Heath AH-AVANTIS is a professional 96kHz, 64-channel digital mixing console built for demanding live sound, house of worship, broadcast, and installed AV environments. Powered by the XCVI FPGA core, it delivers 0.7ms ultra-low latency alongside a fully configurable 42-bus architecture, making it one of the most capable standalone digital consoles in its class. The Avantis targets engineers who need the processing depth of a touring-grade system without relying on a separate MixRack.

Product Description

The Avantis is designed around Allen & Heath's Continuity UI, which connects 24 physical faders across 6 layers with dual 15.6-inch Full HD capacitive touchscreens. This approach gives engineers immediate access to 144 fader strips without sacrificing tactile control. The XCVI FPGA core calculates mixing at 96kHz with a 96-bit accumulator for virtually unlimited internal headroom, and the system supports AMM (Automatic Mic Mixer) across up to 64 channels in 1, 2, or 4 zones — a feature particularly relevant for conference rooms, multi-zone auditoriums, and government council chambers.

I/O connectivity is extensive: 12 analogue XLR inputs, 12 analogue XLR outputs, 1 stereo AES input, 2 stereo AES outputs, and 2 high-density I/O ports each capable of 128x128 channels at 96kHz. These ports accept optional Dante, MADI, and gigaACE cards, giving the Avantis full compatibility with networked AV infrastructure. The optional dPack upgrade adds dLive-class processing directly to the console, including 16 Dyn8 engines, zero-latency DEEP compressors, and a Dual-Stage Valve preamp emulation — all without consuming FX slots. With 12 RackExtra FX slots, 16 DCAs, 24 assignable SoftKeys, and USB stereo record/playback, the Avantis handles both front-of-house and installed AV mixing from a single surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Avantis require a separate MixRack?
No. The Avantis is a standalone console with onboard I/O. It does not require a separate MixRack, unlike the dLive system. Remote I/O expanders can be added via the SLink port.
What network audio protocols does the Avantis support?
The two I/O expansion ports accept optional cards for Dante, MADI, and gigaACE protocols, each operating at 128x128 channels at 96kHz. This makes the Avantis compatible with most commercial AV network audio infrastructure.
What is the dPack upgrade and is it included?
The dPack is an optional software licence that adds dLive-class processing to the Avantis, including 16 Dyn8 multiband dynamic processors, zero-latency DEEP compressors, and Dual-Stage Valve preamp emulations. It is not included with the standard Avantis and must be purchased separately.
Can the Avantis be controlled remotely?
Yes. The Avantis supports remote mixing via iPad and laptop over network, and integrates with Allen & Heath IP remote controllers. Third-party control via TCP/IP is also supported.
Is the Avantis compatible with the ME Personal Mixing System?
Yes. The SLink port connects to Allen & Heath ME-1 and ME-500 personal mixers, allowing performers to control their own monitor mixes independently from the front-of-house engineer.
What warranty does the Avantis carry?
Allen & Heath products sold through authorised dealers carry a standard manufacturer warranty. Contact Creation Networks for specific warranty terms and support options applicable to your installation.
Does the Avantis support Automatic Mic Mixing for conference applications?
Yes. The built-in AMM supports up to 64 channels across 1, 2, or 4 independent zones, with both D-Classic (dynamic gain sharing) and NOM (Number of Open Microphones) modes available.
