Product Overview
The AdderLink X50-US is a transparent USB VGA KVMA extender that delivers uncompressed, lossless extension of keyboard, video, mouse, audio, and general USB peripherals up to 50m (150ft) over a single CAT5 or higher UTP cable. As a compact USB KVM extender over CATx, it carries sharp 1920 x 1200 at 60Hz VGA video plus click-less 44.1kHz CD-quality digital stereo audio to a single remote screen, with total USB compatibility regardless of the computer or peripheral. For facilities that need a VGA KVM extender with audio to separate the user from the noisy or secured computer location, the X50 remains a dependable, driver-free solution.
Product Description
The X50 system pairs a local transmitter at the computer with a remote receiver at the user position, linked by one CATx run. Unlike basic extenders that emulate only keyboards and mice, the X50 uses a unique fully transparent USB communication method with an integrated 4-port hub at the receiver, supporting all USB 1.1 and 2.0 low/full-speed devices — touch screens, graphics tablets, and other interactive peripherals included.

Video quality is a hallmark of the X Series: industry-leading clarity at 1920 x 1200 at 60Hz over the full 50m reach, with a broad range of ultra-smooth, fine compensation adjustments to tune the picture to the cable run. True two-page DDC emulation ensures graphics cards negotiate every supported resolution correctly — a common failure point with lesser extenders.

Audio travels digitally on the same CATx cable, delivering click-less CD-quality stereo without a second cable run. Dual access is built in: the transmitter provides local video and audio outputs so the computer can also be operated locally, with USB devices plugged directly into the host. Both all-metal units measure just 120 x 75 x 26 mm, and a high-density chassis option houses up to 16 X50 units in 2U of rack space. The platform is OS-independent across Windows, DOS, Linux, Unix, BSD, Sun OS, Solaris, macOS, and NetWare. For IP-based HDMI extension and matrix capability, compare the XDIP family in our Adder Technology collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the X50-US include both units?
Yes. The X50-US package is the extender pair — local transmitter and remote receiver — with US power.
Can I connect touch screens or tablets at the remote end?
Yes. The transparent USB design with its integrated 4-port hub supports all USB 1.1/2.0 low and full-speed devices, including touch screens and graphics tablets.
How is audio carried — do I need a second cable?
No second cable. The X50 digitizes 44.1kHz CD-quality stereo audio and sends it over the same CATx link, eliminating clicks and ground noise.
Can I still use the computer locally?
Yes. The transmitter provides local video and audio outputs for dual access; plug local USB devices directly into the computer.
What cable distance is supported?
Up to 50m / 150ft total for the USB path, independent of cable type, using CAT5, 5e, or 6. Remember that a USB hub connected at the receiver counts as 5m of equivalent cable length.
Is the X50 compatible with high-speed USB 2.0 devices like webcams?
It supports USB 1.1 and 2.0 low/full-speed devices. For transparent high-speed USB 2.0 extension, consider the Adder C-USB-LAN system, also available in our Adder Technology collection.
How can it be rack mounted?
Up to 16 X50 units fit in 2U using the X-Series chassis, or single units mount with the X-RMK-FASCIA universal plate.
