Product Overview

The Adder X200AS/R-US is the top-tier receiver in the AdderLink X200 USB KVM extender family, extending keyboard, VGA video, mouse, and 44.1kHz digital stereo audio up to 200m (650ft) over a single CATx cable — with integrated de-skew correction for crisp video on long runs. It functions as a remote user station for up to two computers, or for the ADDERView CATx range of KVM switches. Teams sourcing a USB KVM extender with audio, a CATx remote user station with skew compensation, or a dual-computer KVM receiver over CAT5 will find the X200AS/R purpose-built for the job.

Product Description

The AdderLink X200 series was designed for applications where up to two computers have their keyboard, video, audio, and mouse control extended up to 200m (650ft) across CAT5 or higher UTP cable, with absolute real-time keyboard and mouse performance. The X200AS/R is the audio-plus-de-skew model: it supports the full 200m reach and adds integrated skew correction with a 300MHz bandwidth — equivalent to a quarter of a pixel of movement at 1600 x 1200 — to remove the video skew issues caused by longer CATx cables.

Adder X200AS/R-US AdderLink X200 USB KVM receiver with audio and de-skew

Each X200 receiver is fitted with two RJ45 link ports, forming an integrated two-port KVM switch. A single operator can connect to a local and a remote computer, or to two remote computers, and select between them with keyboard hotkeys or mouse control — with individual brightness, compensation, and skew settings stored per connection. The receiver also serves as the remote user station for any Adder CATx KVM switch, making it a flexible building block in larger switched environments.

Video quality is managed with 128 steps of signal compensation and built-in brightness correction, supporting resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 at the full 200m distance. Full emulated DDC ensures high-performance graphics cards negotiate correctly with the remote display, and the 44.1kHz digital stereo audio channel delivers high-fidelity sound to speakers at the user station. The console side presents USB Type A keyboard and mouse ports, HD-15 video, and a 3.5mm audio jack in a compact all-metal enclosure. Pair it with Adder CATX-USB or CATX-PS2 computer access modules from the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • 200m / 650ft Extension — Extends USB keyboard, mouse, VGA video, and audio up to 200 metres over CATx cable (CAT5/5e/6).
  • Integrated De-Skew — 300MHz-bandwidth skew correction (1/4 pixel at 1600 x 1200) eliminates color skew from long CATx runs.
  • 1600 x 1200 Video — Industry-leading resolution maintained at the full 200m extension distance.
  • Two-Port Integrated KVM Switch — Dual RJ45 ports let one user control two computers, switched by keyboard hotkeys or mouse, with per-port video settings.
  • 44.1kHz Digital Stereo Audio — High-fidelity digital audio is delivered to speakers at the remote user station.
  • 128-Step Video Compensation with Brightness Control — Fine picture adjustment keeps images crisp, clear, and bright over distance.
  • Emulated DDC — Full DDC support allows high-performance video cards to run at high resolutions through the link.
  • CATx Switch Remote User Station — Doubles as the remote console for any ADDERView CATx KVM switch.

Typical Applications

  • Broadcast studio — operating playout and editing systems housed in a central machine room
  • Government space — separating operator consoles from secured server areas
  • Training room — driving instructor stations from rack-mounted computers in an equipment closet
  • Auditorium — controlling presentation computers racked away from the operator position

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a complete extender kit?
No. The X200AS/R-US is the receiver/remote user station only. At the computer end you will need an Adder computer access module (CATX-USB, CATX-USBA, CATX-PS2, CATX-PS2A, or CATX-SUNA) or an ADDERView CATx KVM switch.

Can I connect two computers to one receiver?
Yes. The receiver has two RJ45 link ports and an integrated two-port KVM switch, selectable via keyboard hotkeys or mouse, with independent video settings per port.

What is de-skew and do I need it?
Long CATx cables can introduce color skew because the twisted pairs differ slightly in length. The X200AS model's 300MHz de-skew circuit corrects this, which matters most on runs approaching the 200m limit or when using high resolutions.

Will it work with an existing Adder CATx KVM switch?
Yes. The X200 receiver is designed to serve as the remote user station for the ADDERView CATx switch range.

Which operating systems are supported?
All known operating systems, including Windows, DOS, Linux, Unix, BSD, Sun OS, Solaris, Mac OS, and NetWare — the extender is transparent to the host.

Where can I get the matching computer access modules?
Creation Networks carries the full Adder Technology range, including CATX-USB and CATX-PS2 modules and complete X200 kits.
