Product Overview

The Adder X200A-USB/P-US is a VGA KVM extender kit with audio that relocates a full keyboard, video, mouse and stereo-audio console away from the computer over a single CATx cable run. The kit combines the AdderLink X200A receiver — the audio-equipped model in the X200 family, rated to 100m (330 ft.) — with a CATx USB computer access module and a US power supply. IT and AV teams looking for a USB KVM extender with audio, a VGA console extender over CAT5, or a CATx KVM extension kit for racked computers will find the X200A a dependable, driverless solution.

Product Description

Whenever the computer must live in a rack room and the operator elsewhere, the X200A-USB/P-US carries everything the desk needs — VGA video up to 1600 x 1200, real-time USB keyboard and mouse control, and 44.1kHz digital stereo audio — across standard CAT5, CAT5e or CAT6 structured cabling. Installation is plug and play with no drivers or software on the host.

Adder X200A-USB/P-US VGA KVM extender kit with audio receiver and CATx USB module

The X200A receiver applies 128 steps of video signal compensation and its own brightness correction, so the extended picture remains crisp, clear and bright across the full cable run. Full DDC emulation means high-performance graphics cards negotiate their intended resolutions through the link — a common failure point for extenders that lack active DDC support.

AdderLink X200A receiver showing dual RJ45 CATx link ports

Like every X200 receiver, the X200A carries a two-port integrated KVM switch: connect a second computer access module and the user can hotkey or mouse-switch between two machines — for example a local PC and a remote racked workstation — with individual video settings retained per connection. The receiver can also act as the remote user station for AdderView CATx KVM switches, so the kit slots straight into larger multi-server systems. If your runs exceed 100m or longer cables introduce color skew, step up to the X200AS kit with integrated de-skew, available in our Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • 100m / 330 ft. Console Extension — Extends VGA, USB and audio over CAT5 or higher UTP cable so the computer can be racked away from the desk.
  • 44.1kHz Digital Stereo Audio — High-fidelity audio travels on the same CATx link for speaker-equipped positions.
  • High-Resolution VGA Video — Supports resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 with 128-step signal compensation and brightness correction.
  • Real-Time USB Control — Absolute real-time keyboard and mouse performance with no perceptible latency.
  • Two-Port Integrated KVM Switch — Connect a second computer access module and hotkey-switch between two computers from one console.
  • Full DDC Emulation — Ensures high-performance video cards run correctly at high resolutions through the extension.
  • Works with AdderView CATx Switches — The receiver doubles as a remote user station for Adder CATx KVM switches.
  • OS Independent — Supports Windows, Linux, Unix, BSD, Sun OS, Solaris, Mac OS, NetWare and more, with no drivers required.

Typical Applications

  • Boardroom — keep the room PC in the equipment closet while the console lives at the table.
  • Conference room — extend a rack-mounted computer to a lectern or credenza.
  • House of worship — operate the presentation machine from the platform while hardware stays at the tech booth.
  • Training room — drive instructor positions from centrally racked PCs.
  • Government space — separate computing hardware from operator desks over existing structured cabling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the X200A and X200AS kits?
The X200A supports audio at distances up to 100m (330 ft.). The X200AS adds integrated de-skew correction and extends the reach to 200m (650 ft.) — choose it for longer runs or cables prone to color skew.

What is included in the box?
The X200A receiver with audio, a CATx USB computer access module with audio for the host computer, and a power supply with US mains lead.

Can I control two computers from the extended console?
Yes. The receiver has two RJ45 ports and an integrated two-port KVM switch; add a second computer access module and switch by hotkey or mouse.

Does it work with Adder KVM switches?
Yes. The X200 receiver can serve as the remote user station for any Adder CATx KVM switch, including the AdderView CATx 1000.

Is any software required?
No. The extender is transparent to the host computer and peripherals — no drivers, no configuration.

What cable should I use?
Standard CAT5, CAT5e or CAT6 UTP cable; solid-core structured cabling is recommended for the longest, most consistent runs.
