Product Overview
The Adder X2-DA-SILVER-US is an AdderLink X2 Silver dual access KVM extender that carries high quality video, PS/2 keyboard and mouse, and transparent high-speed RS232 over a single CATx cable. As part of the ADDERLink X Series, this dual access CATx KVM extender keeps a fully functional local console at the computer while a remote operator works up to 200m (650ft) away at resolutions up to 1600x1200. It remains a dependable solution for extending control of legacy PS/2 and serial equipment in industrial, broadcast, and infrastructure settings. Note: this is a legacy ADDERLink X Series product; confirm availability with Creation Networks before specifying it in new designs.
Product Description
The AdderLink X2 Silver Dual Access places a transmitter at the computer and a receiver at the remote console, linked by standard Category 5 or higher UTP cable. The dual access design provides KVM ports at the computer end, so a technician in the equipment room and an operator at the remote position can both control the machine — a practical arrangement for industrial control, plant rooms, and secure server areas.

Video quality is the X2 Silver's signature: industry-leading 1600x1200 resolution is achievable at the full 200m distance, helped by a high level of smooth, fine signal compensation and integrated DeSkew with 300MHz bandwidth that counteracts color skew introduced by long CATx runs. Full DDC emulation ensures high performance video cards operate correctly at high resolutions — something extenders without active DDC support cannot guarantee.

Transparent RS232 extension carries serial data alongside KVM, useful for touchscreens, control interfaces, and instrumentation. Each unit measures 172 x 26 x 75 mm and can run standalone or slide into the X-Series 2U rack chassis, where up to 16 units fit for high-density installations. The system is compatible with all known operating systems, including Windows, DOS, Linux, Unix, BSD, Sun OS, Solaris, macOS, and NetWare. For current-generation alternatives and accessories, see the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does "dual access" mean on this extender?
The transmitter at the computer includes local KVM connections, so a console at the machine and the remote console 200m away can both control the same computer.
What cable do I need between the units?
Standard Category 5 or higher UTP (Cat 5, 5e, 6, or 7); a single run connects transmitter and receiver.
Does it support USB keyboards and mice?
No. The X2 Silver supports PS/2 style keyboards and mice with MiniDin6 connectors, plus HD-15 VGA video and DB9 RS232 serial — it is intended for PS/2 and serial equipment.
Is this product still current?
The X2 Silver is a legacy ADDERLink X Series product. Creation Networks can confirm stock and recommend current Adder CATx or IP-based alternatives where appropriate.
Can multiple extenders be rack mounted?
Yes. Each unit occupies one slot of the X-Series 2U rack chassis, which holds up to 16 units.
Will it work with older operating systems?
Yes. Because extension is hardware based, it operates with all known operating systems, including Windows, DOS, Linux, Unix, BSD, Sun OS, Solaris, macOS, and NetWare.
