Product Overview

The Adder X-DVIPRO-DL-US is an AdderLink X-DVI PRO DL dual-link DVI KVM extender that carries uncompressed digital video, USB 2.0, and audio up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a single CATx cable. Supporting dual-link DVI resolutions to 2560x1600@60Hz with zero latency and no visible artifacts, this DVI USB KVMA extender pair lets organizations move critical computers into a secure, temperature-controlled room while users keep an at-the-PC experience. It is a practical KVM extender over CATx for high-resolution workstations where compressed video is not acceptable.

Product Description

The X-DVI PRO DL system consists of a compact transmitter at the computer and a receiver at the user position, linked by one shielded CATx cable that carries video, USB, and audio together. Video is extended uncompressed and in real time via a dual-link DVI stream, so every pixel of every frame reaches the remote display exactly as the source produced it — essential for color-critical and detail-critical work.

The USB 2.0 interface uses Adder's transparent USB communication method to deliver high compatibility with USB 1.1 and 2.0 low/full-speed devices, presented at the receiver through four USB Type-A ports. Stereo analog audio (16-bit, 44.1kHz) transfers from local to remote line-out, and the system simultaneously supports eight channels of HDMI audio at sample rates up to 192kHz when HDMI sources are adapted into the DVI path. EDID management mirrors the remote monitor's data back to the source for correct resolution and timing on any display.

AdderLink X-DVI PRO DL extender connections

Installation is plug and play: the units ship in a zero-configuration state with no drivers or software, and the transmitter can be powered solely from the host computer's USB connection, eliminating one external power supply. The compact, rack-mountable metal enclosures suit both desktop and equipment-room deployment. Adder recommends CAT7 shielded cabling for full-distance, full-resolution runs; each patch connection reduces the achievable distance by 5 meters. Key Features

  • Dual-Link DVI Resolutions — Extends a single screen at up to 2560x1600@60Hz with uncompressed video, introducing no visible artifacts or latency.
  • Single CATx Cable — Video, USB 2.0 (low and full speed), and audio travel together over one cable up to 50 meters, simplifying pathways and reducing cost.
  • Transparent USB Compatibility — A unique USB communication method supports all USB 1.1 and 2.0 low/full-speed devices, with four USB-A ports at the receiver.
  • HDMI Audio Capability — Carries 8 channels of HDMI audio at 16/20/24-bit up to 192kHz simultaneously with analog jack audio.
  • CD-Quality Analog Audio — Stereo 16-bit/44.1kHz transfer from local to remote line-out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a pair or a single unit?
The X-DVIPRO-DL-US is a complete extender set including both the transmitter (local) and receiver (remote) units, with a US power adapter for the receiver.

What cable should I install?
Adder recommends CAT7 shielded foiled twisted pair (such as Daetwyler 7702 patch or 7120 bulk). Shielded CAT6a also achieves 50m at full resolution. Each patch/break connection reduces distance by 5m, and patch cables over 2m should be CAT7a. CAT5e is not recommended for this system.

Does it support HDMI sources?
The DVI-D interface can carry HDMI video and audio via adapters, including 8 channels of HDMI audio at up to 24-bit/192kHz alongside the analog jack audio.

Are USB storage devices and tablets supported?
All USB 1.1 and 2.0 low and full-speed devices are supported through the receiver's four-port USB hub. High-speed-only devices (USB 2.0 480Mbps class) are outside the low/full-speed specification of this model.

Does the transmitter need its own power supply?
Typically no — it is powered from the host computer's USB connection. An optional DC input is available if the host port cannot supply power.

Do I need drivers or configuration software?
No. The units are plug and play, ship in a zero-config state, and work with all known operating systems.
