Product Overview
The Adder RD1716QIP-US is a 17-inch LCD KVM rack drawer that integrates a fold-away rack console with a built-in 16-port CATx 5000IP KVM-over-IP switch in a single 1U tray. This KVM console drawer with integrated IP KVM switch provides at-rack keyboard, touchpad, and display access to 16 connected systems, while the IP-enabled switch makes those same systems reachable remotely over the network. Shipping with a US keyboard layout, the 17-inch rack drawer console suits shallower or space-constrained racks where the larger 19-inch variant is not required, consolidating monitor, keyboard tray, and KVM switch into one rack unit.
Product Description
Equipment rooms behind commercial AV and IT systems rarely have rack units to spare. The RD1716QIP-US frees space by folding a complete operator console into a 1U drawer: slide it out, raise the 17-inch LCD, and a technician has direct keyboard-video-mouse access to any of the 16 connected systems without carrying a crash cart or dedicating shelf space to a monitor.

Server connections run over CATx cabling to the 16 RJ45 ports on the integrated switch, keeping rear-of-rack wiring manageable compared with direct video and USB runs. Because the integrated switch is the 5000IP variant, the drawer is not just a local console: administrators can reach the connected systems over the network for routine management, reserving the physical drawer for hands-on tasks such as BIOS configuration, OS installation, and incident recovery.
That dual local-plus-remote model fits facilities where equipment racks live in locked rooms or remote closets — the day-to-day work happens over IP, and the drawer is there when someone is physically at the rack. The US-layout keyboard serves North American installations. Note that Adder has superseded the RackDrawer series with the ADDERView RDX1000 family for new projects, so the RD1716QIP-US is most often specified to match existing installations or complete designs already in flight. Related Adder switching and extension hardware is available in our Adder Technology collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does this differ from the RD1916QIP-US?
Functionally the units match — the same integrated 16-port CATx 5000IP switch and console layout — with this model using a 17-inch LCD instead of 19-inch, suiting tighter rack environments.
Can the connected servers be managed remotely?
Yes. The integrated 5000IP switch is IP-enabled, so all 16 systems are accessible over the network as well as from the local drawer.
Is this model still current in Adder's lineup?
Adder has replaced the RackDrawer series with the ADDERView RDX1000 for new projects while continuing support for existing customers. The RD1716QIP-US remains appropriate for matching installed bases.
What keyboard layout ships with it?
The -US suffix denotes a United States keyboard layout.
