Product Overview

The Adder CCS-PRO4-US is a 4-port command and control KM switch that lets one operator view and control up to four computers — each with its own screens — using a single keyboard and mouse. With Adder's Free-Flow technology, this multi-computer KM switch changes focus automatically as the cursor crosses screen borders, giving operators the experience of one continuous desktop across systems. For control positions where each source keeps its own displays but desk clutter and switching delays are unacceptable, the CCS-PRO4 is purpose-built.

Product Description

Unlike a KVM switch, the CCS-PRO4 leaves every computer's monitors connected directly, switching only the keyboard, mouse, USB peripherals, and audio. Operators glance across up to four systems at once and simply slide the mouse onto the screen they want to control — Free-Flow handles the channel change instantly and invisibly.

USB True Emulation passes the full capability of the keyboard and mouse — function keys, wheels, buttons, and controls — to every system, and USB peripherals and speakers can be shared between computers independently of keyboard and mouse focus. An optional driver enables text snippet copy and paste between machines and supports Free-Flow on multi-monitor Windows computers, with up to 16 monitors per computer supported.

Adder CCS-PRO4 rear panel with four USB computer ports, audio jacks, network and serial control

Audio mixing lets the operator monitor sound from any source regardless of which computer is in focus, through dual-purpose 3.5mm jacks that support both analog and S/PDIF mini-TOSLINK optical connections. A keep-alive function prevents selected computers from sleeping so switching stays instant. For integration, the unit is controllable via hotkeys, mouse clicks, Ethernet (10/100), or RS232, with an open API for third-party control systems — ideal for AV control processors. Redundant dual 12V power inlets cover mission-critical installations, and the metal chassis carries a 1,000,000-hour calculated MTBF. The optional CCS-XB expansion module adds LED screen-identification indicators. Find the 8-port CCS-PRO8 and accessories in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • Free-Flow Cursor Switching — Focus follows the mouse across screen borders for instant, button-free switching between four computers.
  • Copy and Paste Between Systems — Text snippets move between computers with an optional driver installed on each machine.
  • USB True Emulation — Full keyboard and mouse capability, including function keys, wheels, and buttons, reaches every connected system.
  • Independent Peripheral Sharing — USB devices and speakers can be assigned to systems separately from keyboard and mouse focus.
  • Multi-Monitor Support — Up to 16 monitors per computer; Free-Flow on multi-monitor machines via a Windows driver.
  • Audio Mixing with Optical Support — Hear any source regardless of focus; dual-purpose jacks handle analog and S/PDIF mini-TOSLINK.
  • Keep-Alive Function — Selected computers are prevented from sleeping, keeping switchover instant in time-critical work.
  • Ethernet, RS232, and Open API Control — Switch via hotkeys, mouse, network, or serial, and integrate with third-party control systems.
  • Redundant Power Option — Dual 12V locking power inlets support mission-critical deployments.
  • High Reliability — Metal construction with a calculated MTBF of 1,000,000 hours (Telcordia SR332).

Typical Applications

  • Government space — operators monitor and act across multiple isolated systems from one seat.
  • Broadcast studio — production staff move between playout, graphics, and automation machines without reaching for another mouse.
  • Commercial meeting space — control multiple room and content PCs from a single operator position.
  • Training room — instructors drive several demonstration systems with one keyboard and mouse.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a KM switch different from a KVM switch?
The CCS-PRO4 switches keyboard, mouse, USB, and audio only — each computer keeps its own directly connected monitors. This suits multi-screen control positions where all systems must stay visible at all times.

Does Free-Flow require software on the computers?
Basic Free-Flow works without software. A driver is required only for copy-and-paste between machines and for Free-Flow across multi-monitor computers (Windows only).

Can an AV control system trigger switching?
Yes. The unit can be controlled via Ethernet or RS232, and an open API supports integration with third-party control processors.

Why does the unit have two power inlets?
Dual 12V inlets allow redundant power feeds for mission-critical installations where a single PSU failure cannot interrupt operations.

Will macOS and Linux computers work alongside Windows?
Yes. The switch is compatible with all known operating systems; only the optional copy/paste and multi-monitor Free-Flow driver is Windows-specific.

How can operators tell which screen is active?
The optional CCS-XB expansion module drives LED indicators that identify the controlled screen — useful on large multi-display walls.

What if I need more than four computers?
The CCS-PRO8 extends the same Free-Flow workflow to eight systems. See the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.
