The Adder CATX-USBA is a self-powered computer access module (CAM) that connects a computer's USB, VGA, and audio-out ports to Adder CATx KVM switches and extenders over a single CAT5e, CAT6, or CAT7 cable. It is the standard server-side interface dongle for ADDERView CATx switch deployments, letting USB-equipped machines join a CATx KVM system without a separate power supply. Product Description

A computer access module is a compact device that adapts the required output ports of a computer to standard structured cabling. The CATX-USBA's tough ABS body houses the RJ45 connector, with USB, VGA, and audio-out leads running to the rear of the target computer or server. The unit sits inline and requires no additional power to operate, drawing what it needs from the host — there is no power brick to mount or outlet to find at the rack.

Like all Adder CAMs, the CATX-USBA uses Adder Keep Alive technology, which keeps the keyboard and mouse inputs to the computer continuously active even when that channel is not selected on the switch. The result is instant, problem-free port selection with no connection delays as operators move between servers.

The module is compatible with all Adder CATx devices, including the ADDERView CATx 1000, CATx 4000, and CATxIP 5000 switch families as well as ADDERLink CATx extenders. The audio-out lead carries the computer's sound to the user station alongside video and USB control; a CATX-USB variant without audio is available where sound is not required.
