Product Overview
The Adder AVX4016-US ADDERView CATx 4000 is a secure multi-user KVM switch that gives four concurrent users BIOS-level control of up to 16 multi-platform servers over standard CATx cabling. As a 4-user 16-port CATx KVM switch, it is built for server rooms behind commercial AV systems, broadcast plants, and IT estates where several administrators need simultaneous, independent access. This rack-mount KVMA switch with audio support installs in minutes as a self-contained 1U appliance combining high security, flexibility, integrated remote power control, and faultless video quality.
Product Description
The ADDERView CATx series connects servers through Adder Computer Access Modules (CAMs), so PS/2, USB, and Sun machines can all share the same switch. Country code reporting, DDC, and keyboard/mouse emulation ensure faultless operation regardless of platform, and flash-upgradeable CAMs are available with optional audio for CD-quality sound at the user station.

Four users work concurrently: a local console (PS/2 or USB keyboard and mouse) plus remote users connected over CATx using Adder X100/X200 extenders at distances up to 300m (1,000ft) from the switch. Video performance is exceptionally high for local, remote, and global users alike, supporting resolutions up to 1900x1440 with DDC emulation.

Integrated power control rounds out the feature set: a dedicated RS232 port interfaces with power switches for complete server reboot capability without a site visit. Need more capacity later? The CATx series cascades over simple CATx connections with intuitive setup, scaling beyond the base 16 ports as the estate grows.
The 1U metal chassis includes a single rack kit and uses an IEC mains lead (100-240V AC) with redundant power available via a 2.5mm DC jack. For IP-based remote user access on the same 16-port footprint, consider the ADDERView CATxIP 5000 (AVX5016IP-US), or browse the complete Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is required to connect each server?
Each computer connects through an Adder Computer Access Module (CAM) over CATx cable. CAM variants cover VGA with PS/2, USB, or Sun, plus DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort options, with audio-enabled versions available.
How do the remote users connect?
Remote user stations connect over CATx using Adder X100/X200 series extenders, supporting distances up to 300m/1,000ft from the switch.
Does this model include IP access?
No. The AVX4016 serves local and CATx-extended users. If you need network-based global users, the AVX5016IP-US adds four IP user sessions on the same 16-port footprint.
Can I expand beyond 16 servers?
Yes. The CATx series cascades using CATx connections with simple, user-intuitive setup; a 24-port model (AVX4024) is also available in the range.
Is audio supported at the user station?
Yes, when audio-enabled CAM modules (such as CATX-USB-A) are used, the switch delivers CD-quality audio to users.
Can servers be rebooted remotely?
Yes. The dedicated RS232 power-control port interfaces with compatible power switches for complete remote reboot capability.
