Product Overview
The Adder AVSV1004-US is a secure 4-port VGA KVM switch from the ADDERView Secure Analogue Standard family, designed to let one keyboard, monitor and mouse safely operate four systems on networks of differing security classifications — the "red and black network" use case. Its EAL4+ Common Criteria design and TEMPEST qualified construction make it suitable for accredited government and defense desks. Organizations searching for a 4-port secure KVM switch, an EAL4 accredited VGA KVM, or a TEMPEST qualified desktop switch for classified environments will find the AVSV1004 engineered specifically for that mission.
Product Description
Operators who work across multiple isolated networks need fast console switching without any possibility of data leaking between systems. The AVSV1004-US enforces that isolation in hardware: data diodes implemented in hard-wired electronic circuitry guarantee unidirectional flow on critical data paths, so a compromised peripheral can never be used to read information from, or move data to, another connected system.

Channel selection is permitted only via the front-panel buttons; keyboard and mouse switching commands are deliberately blocked so the active channel is always under the operator's direct physical control. At each channel change, connected peripherals are powered down and re-initialized, adding a further layer of protection against hidden peripheral malware. Controlled memory and minimized software — with one-time programmable storage replacing flash in all security-critical areas — remove the reprogramming attack surface entirely.

The compact, high-density metal chassis is extensively shielded inside and out, reducing electromagnetic emissions and isolating electrical crosstalk between channels in line with its TEMPEST qualified design (USA NSTISSAM Level I and NATO SDIP-27 Level A). Analog VGA video is supported at up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz, and the switch is compatible with all known hardware platforms offering VGA plus USB HID or PS/2 connectivity. Adder's shielded VSCD-series cables preserve emission screening from switch to system. If your desk also requires smartcard reader sharing, see the Enhanced-series AVSC1102 in our Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- Four-Port Secure Switching — One console controls up to four systems on isolated networks of differing classification.
- EAL4+ Common Criteria Design — Designed to meet Common Criteria EAL4+ for deployment in accredited secure environments.
- TEMPEST Qualified Construction — Qualified design referencing USA NSTISSAM Level I and NATO SDIP-27 Level A emission standards.
- Hard-Wired Data Diodes — Unidirectional circuitry on critical data paths blocks any peripheral-borne attempt to read or transfer data between systems.
- Front-Panel-Only Channel Control — No hotkey or peripheral-initiated switching; the selected channel is always deliberate and visible.
- Peripheral Re-Initialization on Switch — Peripherals are powered down and re-initialized at each channel change to defeat hidden peripheral malware.
- Tamper-Resistant, Shielded Chassis — Robust metal casing with extensive shielding and minimal apertures resists probing and limits emissions.
- High-Resolution Analog Video — VGA up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz with broad platform and OS compatibility.
Typical Applications
- Government space — single-desk access to multiple classified and unclassified networks.
- Commercial meeting space — secure switching between segregated corporate systems at one operator console.
- Training room — controlled, auditable access to separate training and live networks from one position.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the AVSV1004 keep connected networks isolated?
Hard-wired data diodes enforce one-way data flow on critical paths, switching is restricted to the front panel, peripherals are re-initialized on every channel change, and security-critical firmware is stored in one-time programmable memory.
What is the difference between the Standard and Enhanced secure switches?
The Standard series (AVSV) provides secure KVM switching; the Enhanced series (AVSC) adds secure smartcard/CAC reader sharing plus anti-subversion and unit-authentication features.
What video does it support?
The switch uses analog HD-15 VGA connections at resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz.
Are special cables needed?
Adder's shielded VSCD-series cables, built with braid and foil screening and fitted ferrite cores, are recommended to preserve emission performance end to end.
Can keyboard hotkeys change the channel?
No. By design, channel switching commands from the keyboard or mouse are blocked; only the front-panel buttons select the active system.
Is this product export-restricted?
Export restrictions apply to specific countries for secure KVM products. Contact us before placing an international order.
